He went from playing less than half as many snaps as backfield mate Michael Carter in Week 2 to playing 6 more snaps than Carter against Cincinnati. The biggest change came in the passing game. According to Pro Football Focus, Hall trailed Carter 24-9 in Week 2 routes. The rookie led 31-21 in that category in Week 3. By halftime, hall had twice as many targets (8) as anyone else on the team. He finished with a team-high 11 looks, catching 6 for 53 yards. Hall trailed Carter 11-8 in carries but matched Carter's 39 rushing yards. Through 3 games, Hall now leads Carter by 5 targets. He has also averaged 0.9 more per rushing attempt and 2.1 more yards per reception. We'll see whether this marks an enduring change or was just a 1-week flip. We'll also see what effect QB Zach Wilson has upon his impending return.

Forced to play from behind in the 4th quarter, the Jets fed RB Breece Hall only 8 touches in Week 2. The rookie rushed 7 times for 50 yards, including a 23-yarder that showed off his plus vision, balance and burst. He was stuffed for a loss on the next play — a goal line chance — but later scored on a swing pass where the Browns defense failed to guard him. On the day, RB Michael Carter matched Hall in carries. Carter also topped the rookie 5-1 in targets, with Ty Johnson even mixing in for 3 targets. So until his usage improves, Hall will remain an RB3 for the foreseeable future. Hall edged Carter 10-9 in targets, but Carter led the team with 7 receptions for 40 yards. Hall caught 6 for 38. We'll be watching this split all season, but Carter certainly gave no reason in Week 1 for the team to decrease his role.

Jets HC Robert Saleh told reporters Tuesday that RT Mekhi Becton is likely done for the season, according to ESPN. Becton suffered what is believed to be an injury to his right patella. Although the team has yet to reveal specifics, it sounds like Becton tore the patellar tendon in that knee, which also required season-ending surgery last year. Losing Becton isn't a killer, but it hurts an offense that already had O-line questions.

Jets RBs Breece Hall and Michael Carter split the workload in Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. If that's how things continue to play out heading into the regular season, Carter could be a nice fantasy value. Hall, on the other hand, would see his ceiling limited. We remain more bullish on the 2nd-round rookie than the 4th-rounder from last year but will certainly track the situation through preseason.

The arrival of Round 2 RB Breece Hall crushes Carter’s fantasy upside, but he’s at least the clear #2. He’s also a very fair value in FFPC drafts, coming off the board as the RB42.
