Carolina Panthers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Panthers HC Dave Canales said Monday the team expects LB Josey Jewell to miss at least one game after leaving Sunday's contest with groin and hamstring injuries.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Panthers LB Shaq Thompson suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in Sunday's loss to the Bengals and will miss the rest of the season.

The Panthers have placed DT Derrick Brown on season-ending IR for the meniscus injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Saints. That leaves a gaping hole up front on a defense that was already bad.

The Panthers lost DT Derrick Brown to a meniscus injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints. Brown will need surgery, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, and that operation will determine how long Brown will be out. Pelissero calls it "potentially season-ending."

Panthers Edge D.J. Wonnum missed all of spring workouts with "complications" related to his December quad surgery, according to The Athletic's Joseph Person. The report adds that Wonnum "likely will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list." Wonnum signed a two-year, $12.5 million deal with Carolina this offseason after playing his first four years in Minnesota.

The Panthers have applied the franchise tag to Edge Brian Burns. That's no shock. Carolina reportedly declined sizable trade offers in the past for Burns, who will be just 26 for the 2024 season. Any team that believes the young pass rusher is worth two first-round picks could still sign him to an offer sheet in free agency. And the Panthers could still swap Burns to recoup some picks from last year's Bryce Young trade. But for now, we'll assume Burns sticks in Carolina and remains a solid-to-good IDP option.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (quad) is active for today's game against the Jaguars. Use him as planned in your IDP lineups. CB Jaycee Horn (toe) is active but merely a low-level IDP at best.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (quad) and CB Jaycee Horn (toe) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Interim HC Chris Tabor said he "feels good" about both players' chances of being ready for the game, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. We'll check on the status of both players Sunday.

Panthers S Vonn Bell (shoulder) is off the final injury report for Sunday's game against the Saints. That means he's ready to return after missing Week 13 and leaving the previous game early. Bell has managed just two full games among his past seven thanks to a pair of injuries. You can find him at the bottom of DB3 territory in our Week 14 rankings, though.

Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (hamstring is active for today's game against the Buccaneers. We're betting he'll be in the lineup, but it's tough to know how much playing time he'll be ready for. Horn hasn't played since Week 1. He's a risky option for IDP lineups.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder) is active for today's game against the Titans. Use him as planned in IDP lineups.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. He opened the practice week limited, then went full Thursday before being limited again Friday. We'd bet on Luvu playing but will check his status ahead of Sunday's game.

Panthers safeties Vonn Bell (quad) and Xavier Woods (thigh) are both active for tonight's game against the Bears. They haven't been in the lineup together since Week 3. Neither is a strong IDP contender for Week 10 lineups. We'll see whether they make a difference for the Carolina D on whole.

Panthers S Vonn Bell (quad) and S Xavier Woods (thigh) are questionable for Thursday night's game against the Bears. Bell put in full practices all week and looks ready to finally return after missing the past 3 games (with a Week 7 bye mixed in). Woods looks iffier after missing two practices and remaining limited Wednesday with a new issue. We'll check the status on both players ahead of the game.

The Panthers have ruled Edge Brian Burns (concussion) out for Thursday night's game against the Bears. That leaves Carolina with DJ Johnson and Amare Barno as basically the only two true edge players for the matchup. This isn't a situation to mine for Week 10 IDP options or a team defense.

Panthers Edge Brian Burns suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Colts. That likely means he'll miss a high-ceiling Week 10 matchup with the Bears, as players nearly always need at least the following week to pass through the concussion protocol. We'll watch for more details this week on Burns' situation, but make sure you have an IDP replacement option ready.

Panthers S Vonn Bell (quad) apparently isn't ready to return just yet. He's doubtful for Sunday's game despite putting in limited practices all week. It'll be Bell's third straight missed game -- and another start for Sam Franklin in his place. Franklin made noise with a 99-yard INT return for a TD back in Week 4, but he has just one game all season with more than 2 solo tackles. He's not a worthwhile option for most IDP leagues. The Panthers might also miss CB Donte Jackson. He's officially questionable despite not appearing on the injury report until Friday, as a full participant.

Panthers S Vonn Bell put in limited practices Wednesday and Thursday, his first action since injuring a quad the Thursday before a Week 6 meeting with the Dolphins. Bell missed that game and last week's win over the Texans, sandwiching a Week 7 bye. But he just might be ready to return Sunday against the Colts. Indy has been a negative scoring matchup for DBs on the season, but Bell's a decent tackle play in just about any spot. His return would send S Sam Franklin back to the sideline.

The Panthers will have S Xavier Woods (hamstring) back in the lineup for today's game against the Texans. It'll be his first game action since Week 3.

Panthers LB Frankie Luvu (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans after putting in limited practices all week. He says he'll be playing, though, according to The Athletic's Joe Person. Expect to have Luvu in your IDP lineups.
