The Vikings have signed RB Latavius Murray to a 3-year deal that can be voided after this season, according to ESPN's Field Yates. We're curious to see the dollars involved here. Murray has been a solid fantasy RB the past 2 years, posting back-to-back top 13 PPR finishes. But his actual play hasn't been nearly as impressive. Murray mustered just 4.0 yards per carry in both seasons. That was particularly disappointing last year, when a strong Raiders offensive line ranked 11th in Football Outsiders' Adjusted Line Yards. Now Murray will be running behind a Vikings line that finished 30th in Adjusted Line Yards. He figures to get the 1st crack at lead-back duties, but bank on RB Jerick McKinnon also getting plenty of run. Murray's arrival ends any chance of RB Adrian Peterson returning to Minnesota. The Raiders, meanwhile, are left with 2nd-year RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (groin, knee) is out for Sunday’s finale against the Bears. The 31-year-old finishes the season with an ugly 1.9 yards per carry across just 3 appearances. His days in Minnesota are numbered unless he agrees to a massive pay cut this offseason. Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata will handle backfield duties for the Vikings this weekend.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee, groin) has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Packers. It sounds like the groin is a bigger issue than the knee. So Minnesota will again turn to Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata in the backfield. McKinnon has quietly caught 23 balls over his last 4 games and is a RB3 or flex option in PPR leagues.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) didn't practice on Wednesday and admitted afterward that he's uncertain for Saturday's game against the Packers. "I'm taking it day by day," he said. AP managed just 23 yards on 7 touches in his return last weekend. He's now averaging 1.9 yards per carry for the season. Minnesota's offense is better without Peterson right now. Jerick McKinnon will be in the RB3 mix if AP doesn't play on Saturday.

Vikings RB Matt Asiata (ankle, illness) will play against the Colts today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Will work into three-RB rotation," Schefter adds. We'd bet on Jerick McKinnon and Adrian Peterson seeing more action that Asiata. He shouldn't be in fantasy lineups.

Vikings RB Matt Asiata was added to Friday’s injury report with an ankle issue. He’s also dealing with an illness, according to the Vikings’ official site. Asiata didn’t practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Colts. His absence would be a big boost to RB Jerick McKinnon.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer's status for Thursday night's game against the Cowboys is "uncertain" after he underwent emergency eye surgery on the Wednesday, the team announced. It's certainly not an ideal scenario for a team that's topped 20 points in just 1 of its last 6 games. WR Stefon Diggs and TE Kyle Rudolph should be the only Vikings on your Week 13 radar.

Update: Zimmer will miss the game.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Lions. He put in just 2 limited practices this week, so assume that he’s still not at 100%. McKinnon is a risk/reward RB2 in a plus matchup.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is expected to play against the Lions today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He figures to split carries with RB Matt Asiata and still might not be at 100%. McKinnon is a risky Week 9 fantasy start, although there's upside vs. a Detroit defense allowing 4.7 yards per carry to RBs.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Lions. He put in limited practices on Thursday and Friday and expects to play. We'll find out for sure by noon ET on Sunday. An active McKinnon would likely lead a committee attack alongside Matt Asiata. Both guys would be lower-end RB2s in the plus matchup.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) practiced on Thursday for the 1st time since going down in Week 7. It gives him a shot to play against the Lions this weekend, but we'll get another update on Friday. McKinnon would likely return to a committee backfield with Matt Asiata.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) remained sidelined on Wednesday. He's yet to practice since going down in Week 7. RB Matt Asiata totaled 78 scoreless yards on 16 touches this past Monday night. He'd be looking at a similar workload if McKinnon can't play against the Lions this weekend.

Vikings OC Norv Turner has resigned, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. There's likely more to this story that we'll learn about in the coming days. Turner is 1 of the most respected offensive minds in the game, although this year's Minnesota offense currently ranks 31st in yards per game and 23rd in points per game. Turner figures to be replaced by either Tony Sparano or Pat Shurmur. Both guys have spent multiple seasons as HC and/or OC in the NFL.

Update: Shurmur will take over as OC. He played a big part in bringing QB Sam Bradford to Minnesota after working with him both in St. Louis and Philadelphia.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Bears. He didn't practice all week and might be looking at a multi-game absence. Matt Asiata will operate as Minnesota's lead back on Monday and is a good bet for at least 15 touches. That makes him a fine RB2 in a week with 6 teams on bye.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (ankle) missed practice again on Friday. He at least shed his walking boot but remains very iffy for Monday night's game against the Bears. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow. Matt Asiata figures to operate as Minnesota's lead back vs. Chicago regardless of McKinnon's availability.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon was in a walking boot on Thursday, according to insider Andrew Krammer. McKinnon injured his ankle in last week's game against the Eagles. We still don't know the severity, but he's looking unlikely to play on Monday night vs. the Bears. That'd hand lead-back duties to Matt Asiata.

Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon suffered an ankle injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's loss at Philadelphia that sidelined him temporarily. Then he aggravated it at the end of the 3rd quarter and sat out the rest of the game. That included just 1 more series, with Minnesota trailing by double digits. The St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports that McKinnon's optimistic about his chances for playing in Week 8, and the Monday night kickoff will give him an extra day of rest. At the same time, he's averaging 3.2 yards per carry on the season. So McKinnon might be best left on your fantasy bench for Week 8 even if he's active. We'll track his status this week. RB Matt Asiata makes sense as a waiver option in deeper leagues.

The Vikings list RB Matt Asiata as their starter for today's game against the Panthers. It doesn't mean much but does confirm that Asiata will play a significant role. We're still betting on Jerick McKinnon leading the backfield in touches, but he's a lower-end RB2 with Asiata stealing work. Asiata is a TD-dependent RB3 or flex.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has decided to undergo surgery to repair his torn meniscus, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson. He's expected to be sidelined at least 3-4 months and maybe as many as 6. Even the short end of that timetable would keep him out until late December. Minnesota's Week 15 game is on December 8; Week 16 on December 24. The Vikings might place Peterson on IR with the designated-to-return tag, but he'll very likely miss the rest of the fantasy football season. Go ahead and drop Peterson from rosters. Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata will handle backfield duties for as long as AP is out. Insider Matt Vensel expects a 65-35 split in favor of McKinnon.

Vikings insider Matt Vensel expects a 65-35 carry split in favor of Jerick McKinnon over Matt Asiata for as long as Adrian Peterson is out. "Asiata as the goal-line guy," Vensel adds. McKinnon figures to handle most of the passing-down work. Over their final 7 games together with Peterson out back in 2014, McKinnon out-carried Asiata 93 to 58 and out-targeted him 30-20. A similar split this year would make McKinnon a RB2 with upside and Asiata a TD dependent RB3 or flex.
