Steelers HC Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that QB Mason Rudolph will start this weekend's finale vs. the Browns. Pittsburgh can't fall past the #3 seed and can only climb to #2 if the Bills lose at home to the Dolphins. So QB Ben Roethlisberger, whose arm has looked tired lately, will get the week off. Tomlin said "the vast majority of guys will be playing" vs. Cleveland, but we wouldn't be surprised if guys like James Conner, Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster at least had their snaps limited.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been placed on the COVID list. We'll see if he tested positive or was just in contact with someone who did. Big Ben is also dealing with injuries to both knees, although those aren't expected to keep him out of Sunday's game against the Bengals. QB Mason Rudolph will be under center for that one if Roethlisberger isn't.

Update: Roethlisberger came in close contact with TE Vance McDonald, who tested positive for COVID. Roethlisberger will be allowed to rehab those knee injuries at the facility and can play vs. Cincinnati on Sunday if he avoids a positive test.

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph suffered a left shoulder injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Jets. He had replaced QB Devlin Hodges -- but "Duck" is back in the game. Pittsburgh's QB situation remains a mess.

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph was benched early in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game in Cincinnati. He completed 8 of 16 passes for just 85 scoreless yards and an INT. QB Devlin Hodges has replaced Rudolph. Pittsburgh's passing game remains a situation best avoided in fantasy lineups.

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph (concussion) was a full-go in Thursday's practice. It's confirmation that he's on track to return for Monday night's game against the Dolphins. He's a viable play in 2-QB leagues in that plus matchup.

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph has cleared the concussion protocol, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Barring a setback, Rudolph will be back under center when Pittsburgh returns from the Week 7 bye to face the Dolphins. Rudolph is just a QB2 in fantasy football -- but he's an upgrade over QB Devlin Hodges for Pittsburgh's skill-position guys.

Steelers QB Mason Rudolph took a big hit from a pair of Ravens in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game and appeared to be knocked out. He was able to walk off the field but will obviously go for a concussion check. We'll update Rudolph's status when we know more. His absence leaves Pittsburgh with QB Devlin Hodges.

Update: The Steelers confirmed that Rudolph has a concussion.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger needs surgery on his right elbow and will miss the rest of the 2019 season, HC Mike Tomlin announced Monday. We'll look for more details on the injury, but it's fair to wonder if this is the end for the 37-year-old Roethlisberger. It'll be Mason Rudolph under center for Pittsburgh the rest of this season. The 2018 3rd-rounder posted a 65% completion rate, 8.6 yards per attempt and 4 TDs vs. 1 INT this preseason. And he played well in relief of Big Ben vs. Seattle, completing 12 of 19 passes for 112 yards and 2 scores. Rudolph looks capable of at least keeping WR JuJu Smith-Schuster -- and potentially TE Vance McDonald -- afloat. It's also worth noting that he played his college ball with fellow Steeler James Washington. We'll see if they can rekindle some magic.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hurt his elbow late in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Seahawks. He's on the sidelines without his helmet to start the 2nd half, and QB Mason Rudolph is in the game. We'll update Roethlisberger's status when we learn more.

The Steelers selected Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL Draft. A 3-year starter for the Cowboys, Rudolph finished his college career with a 63.2% completion rate, 9.4 yards per attempt and 92 TDs vs. 26 INTs. He was especially good throwing downfield. According to Pro Football Focus, Rudolph’s 51.1% adjusted completion rate on deep passes last year ranked 5th in this draft class — ahead of Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen and Lamar Jackson. Rudolph sports prototypical size at 6’5, 235 pounds and has plenty of arm strength. Opponents will point out that he played in a pass-friendly offense with a pair of future NFLers in (fellow new Steeler) James Washington and Marcel Ateman. But there’s some NFL starting potential here. Rudolph, of course, will sit behind Ben Roethlisberger for now. We’ll see if he can develop into his eventual replacement.
