The Eagles on Friday placed LB Nathan Gerry on IR with an ankle injury. That knocks him out for at least the next 3 games, with a Week 9 bye in the middle (and not counting as 1 of the missed weeks). That leaves more playing time available for LBs Alex Singleton and Duke Riley over the next few games. Singleton ranked 2nd among Eagles LBs in playing time at 67% last week, with Riley behind at 57%. Neither makes for a strong IDP option, but Dallas brings an upside scoring matchup this week. So both Singleton and Riley are in play for fantasy lineups.

Word from Philadelphia media is that he has cleared the league protocol and just needs to remain symptom-free to be able to play in the game. We'll update his status Sunday morning. CB Avonte Maddox (ankle) has been ruled out.

Eagles DEs Brandon Graham (concussion) and Derek Barnett (hamstring) are active for today's game against the Rams. It'll be Barnett's 2020 debut after he missed the opener. Graham profiles better for IDP usage. Both help the upside of the Philly team defense.

Eagles DE Derek Barnett returned to a full practice Wednesday. Barnett missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury that also cost him a large chunk of training camp. But it sounds like he'll be ready to face the Rams on Sunday. That will be particularly helpful, as DE Brandon Graham is in the concussion protocol and DE Vinny Curry landed on IR this week with what HC Doug Pederson called a "significant" hamstring injury. Philly also got DT Javon Hargrave back for a limited workout Wednesday. The free-agent addition missed all of camp with a pectoral injury. The Eagles are likely to ease him back in.

Eagles DE Derek Barnett and DT Javon Hargrave are out indefinitely with injuries, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. The team lists Hargrave -- a big-money free-agent addition -- as out for "multiple weeks" with an unspecified upper-body injury. Barnett is listed as "week to week" with a lower-body injury. Barnett has lost 12 games to injuries over the past 2 years, since joining the starting lineup. Philly sports solid depth at his position. Hargrave could be a tougher blow if he's out into the regular season. The Eagles let DT Timmy Jernigan walk on the open market after signing Hargrave. Jernigan reached a deal over the weekend with Jacksonville, after the Jags lost DL Rodney Gunter to retirement. Neither Barnett nor Hargrave will be worth a look in most IDP leagues before returning to the field.

The Eagles picked Colorado LB Davion Taylor in Round 3 of the NFL Draft. Taylor spent just 2 seasons with the Buffalos after beginning his career at the junior college level. Speed is Taylor's game. He ranked 6th in the off-ball LB class with a 112.2 speed score, but also ranked 11th in solo tackles per game (4.75). Taylor goes to a Philly defense with openings at LB. We'll see if he's ready to compete for a 2020 starting gig, but the opportunity is there.

Former Eagles CB Ronald Darby has agreed to a 1-year, $3 million deal with Washington. That's a tiny contract for a 26-year-old former 2nd-round pick who has spent his whole career starting. But it signals that Darby couldn't find more than a "prove it" deal on the open market after losing 20 games to injury over his 3 seasons in Philly. Darby served as the Eagles' top corner when healthy and could become the same for Washington. That defense has traded away CB Quinton Dunbar and released CB Josh Norman this offseason. The current roster sports only 1 corner (Fabian Moreau) who played at least 50% of Washington's defensive snaps last season. Washington also signed CB Kendall Fuller in free agency. Barring an early NFL Draft pick at the position, Fuller, Moreau and Darby look like the new top 3 corners there. Philly, meanwhile, traded for Darius Slay to take over its top CB spot. The rest of the depth chart likely has some sorting left to do.

The Saints have agreed to a 4-year, $32 million deal with S Malcolm Jenkins. The 32-year-old began his career in New Orleans as a 1st-round CB back in 2009 before moving to safety. He spent the past 6 years with the Eagles after leaving in free agency and helped turn Philly into a perennially tough matchup for TEs. Back with the Saints, Jenkins might be stepping in for S Vonn Bell, who hit free agency this week. New Orleans is certainly paying starter money to Jenkins, who figures to land in DB2 territory in our 2020 IDP rankings.

Eagles CB Jalen Mills (ankle) is inactive for today's game against the Giants. That leaves a shaky Philly secondary without its 2 outside starters, with CB Ronald Darby landing on IR with a hip flexor injury. It's a nice matchup for Giants outside WRs Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard.

The Weather.com forecast for East Rutherford, N.J., calls for the chance of rain ramping up in the 4 p.m. ET hour and then climbing every hour thereafter today. That, of course, is the home of MetLife Stadium, where the Giants will host the Eagles for the regular-season finale. The forecast doesn't call for much wind, which historically impacts passing games more than rain. But keep the conditions in mind if you're down to splitting hairs on a close decision or 2 for your fantasy football lineup.
