Eagles DT Fletcher Cox (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game at Washington. He sat out Wednesday's practice before returning to a limited workout Thursday and then practicing in full on Friday. Cox appears likely to play, though we'll confirm his status Sunday morning.

Eagles DT Fletcher Cox missed Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, but he's expected to play Sunday against Washington. "He'll be fine for the game," HC Doug Pederson said, according to ESPN.com.

Eagles OLB Mychal Kendricks played just 19 defensive snaps in Sunday's opener against the Browns, and Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that his role doesn't appear likely to grow any time soon. Philly played its nickel package on defense more than its "base" defense, which keeps MLB Jordan Hicks and OLB Nigel Bradham on the field as the 2 LBs (with Kendricks leaving for an extra DB). "As good an athlete as Mychal is, it's just unfortunate that we have to take one guy off," coach Doug Pederson said. "Right now . . . he's the odd man out and he ends up coming off the field." No Eagles coach has spoken publicly of any dissatisfaction with Kendricks' play or attitude, but he was on the field for the 4th quarter of the 3rd preseason game and started the 4th -- territory, in both cases, that NFL starters usually avoid. Kendricks lost 2 weeks to a hamstring injury in August, which might have helped slot him behind Bradham for nickel duties. But Bradham played under DC Jim Schwartz in Buffalo 2 years ago and might need to screw up significantly or get hurt to give Kendricks an opportunity. You can drop Kendricks for a more trustworthy LB in most redraft IDP leagues.

Eagles DE Vinny Curry is active for today’s opener against the Browns. He entered the weekend questionable with a knee issue but put in a full practice Friday. He carries IDP upside into a matchup with a Browns offense that we expect will have trouble protecting its QB this season. The Philly team D has plenty of upside in the matchup as well.

The Eagles have reportedly agreed to a 6-year, $103 million extension with DT Fletcher Cox, including about $63 million in guarantees. That resolves 1 of the team's biggest offseason issues, as Cox had skipped voluntary workouts while awaiting the new deal. The contract includes the richest guarantee in the league among non-QBs, showing the team's belief in its top lineman and the market that likely would have met him in free agency. Cox could be in for even better IDP numbers as a DT in new DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 front.

A week after the Titans shipped the 1st overall pick of the draft to the Rams, the Browns have traded the #2 pick to the Eagles.  Philly also gets a 2017 4th-rounder and gives up this year's 8th overall pick, plus a 2016 3rd-rounder, a 2016 4th-rounder, a 2017 1st-rounder and a 2018 2nd-rounder.  The Eagles have reportedly fallen in love with North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz, but they better hope the Rams pass on him at #1.  The Browns, meanwhile, seem willing to give QB Robert Griffin a shot this season.

The Eagles expect to start Mychal Kendricks on the weak side, Jordan Hicks in the middle and free-agent addition Nigel Bradham on the strong side in 2016, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hicks played impressively well as a rookie after injuries to Kendricks and Kiko Alonso forced him into the lineup. Bradham played under new DC Jim Schwartz in Buffalo in 2014. Kendricks' skill set makes him dangerous from any spot.

Eagles HC Doug Pederson has confirmed that Connor Barwin will move from OLB in the previous 3-4 alignment to DE in Philly's new 4-3 base, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. We'll see how the team plans to rotated Barwin, Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry on the edges, but the trio combines with DL Fletcher Cox to lead a potentially high-powered pass rush.

The Eagles on Wednesday signed former Bills LB Nigel Bradham, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Bradham spent his 1st 4 seasons in Buffalo. His most productive year came in 2014 under then-DC Jim Schwartz, who now serves that role in Philly. Bradham's capable of playing any LB spot in a 4-3 alignment but might be best suited for the strong side. We'll see how things sort out before projecting his IDP value.

The Eagles have reached a deal with former Rams S Rodney McLeod, according to USA Today's Tom Pelissero. The contract will reportedly be for $37 million over 5 years, with $17 million guaranteed. The 25-year-old started every game over the past 3 seasons in St. Louis -- after working as a reserve in his rookie year. In Philly, he'll replace yet another Chip Kelly import in S Walter Thurmond. McLeod and S Malcolm Jenkins give the Eagles a potentially strong duo at the back of a defense that still needs to address CB this offseason.

The Associated Press reports that the Eagles have agreed to trade CB Byron Maxwell and LB Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick. The deal reportedly won't be officially announced until Wednesday. Philly signed Maxwell to a large free-agent deal just last offseason, when Chip Kelly was running personnel. Kelly also traded RB LeSean McCoy to Buffalo for Alonso, only to watch the LB suffer a knee injury in Week 2 and never return to full playing time. The Dolphins pick up a pair of potential immediate starters at positions of weakness. The Eagles likely viewed Alonso as expendable given their switch to a 4-3 base under new DC Jim Schwartz and the 2015 emergence of rookie LB Jordan Hicks. He and Kendricks could prove to be strong IDP options in the rearranged defense. We would expect no higher than a mid-round pick to go Philly's way, given Maxwell's big contract and Alonso's 2 straight seasons with knee injuries. Of course, both players will need to pass physicals to finalize the deal.
