Emeka Egbuka Out For Week 8

Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (concussion, foot) is out for this weekend's game vs. the Falcons. HC Todd Bowles said Friday that Egbuka has cleared concussion protocol but is out with the foot injury. His absence should again leave WRs Ted Hurst (93% route rate last week) and Tez Johnson (100%) in full-time roles. They're intriguing fliers in daily contests, but you should be able to do better in season-long lineups.

Baker Mayfield Wins in Return But Lacked Weapons for a Fantasy Impact

Mayfield returned from a three-game absence with a right thumb injury, but the Buccaneers barely needed him in a 43-13 blowout of Carolina. He completed 7 of 11 passes for 64 yards and a TD, added 1 carry for 1 yard and finished as QB23 for the week. Tampa Bay ran the ball 49 times against just 11 pass attempts, leaving Mayfield with only 12 dropbacks before garbage time. Four of his 7 completions went to Chris Godwin, who is working in a short-area role with a -1.4-yard aDOT. Mayfield’s lone TD came on a broken play to Tez Johnson, who filled Emeka Egbuka’s role while Egbuka sat out with a concussion and foot injury.

Emeka Egbuka Out For Week 7

Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (concussion, foot) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers. It’s unclear if it’s the concussion, foot, or both keeping him out. He should clear concussion protocol next week, but we’ll see about the foot. Egbuka’s absence should mean a boost in routes for WRs Ted Hurst and Tez Johnson, but neither can be trusted in fantasy lineups. WR Chris Godwin and TE Cade Otton will also find more targets available.

        Emeka Egbuka Still Out Thursday

Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (concussion, foot) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He was working off to the side with a trainer, according to Fox Sports' Greg Auman, so he's made some progress through the protocol. But Egbuka still looks likely to miss Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. That'd leave Chris Godwin, Ted Hurst, and Tez Johnson as Tampa Bay's top 3 WRs.

Bucs UDFA Eric Rivers Brings Speed But Lands on Congested Depth Chart

The Buccaneers signed Georgia Tech WR Eric Rivers as an undrafted free agent this week. Rivers opened his college career as a walk-on DB at Memphis in 2021, then missed the following season with a shoulder injury. He transferred to Florida International in 2023 and enjoyed a solid first season at wideout. Despite missing a game, Rivers ranked second on the team in catches (32) and TD receptions (2), and third in receiving yards (370). He broke out with a big 62-1,172-12 receiving line in 2024, racking up 18.9 yards per catch. His 3.57 yards per route ranked second among 347 FBS WRs who drew at least 40 targets that season. A transfer to Georgia Tech produced a quieter final season, though Rivers led the Yellow Jackets with 658 receiving yards and tied for the receptions lead (46).

Chris Godwin Expected To Play Week 12

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) is expected to play vs. the Rams tonight. HC Todd Bowles said that'd likely be the case on Friday. We don't know whether Godwin will play a full slate of snaps in his first action since Week 5, though. Try to leave him on fantasy benches. Godwin's return makes WRs Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard much shakier fantasy bets. Check your Team Dashboard to see if any of these guys make sense in your starting lineup.

Update: ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Bucs "will be mindful" of Godwin's workload tonight. "Will likely be on something of a pitch count," Fowler adds.

        Chris Godwin A Full-Go Thursday

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. That should have him on track to play vs. the Rams on Sunday night. We wouldn't trust Godwin in fantasy lineups in his first action since Week 5 -- and just his third game of the season. But his return makes WR Tez Johnson a much shakier fantasy play.

        Chris Godwin Limited Again Wednesday

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) remained limited in Wednesday's practice. It's unclear if he'll make it back for Sunday night's game vs. the Rams. Godwin shouldn't be in your Week 12 fantasy plans, but his return would make WR Tez Johnson a shakier play.

        Buccaneers-Bills Weather Update

The forecast for today's Buccaneers-Bills game calls for sustained winds around 20 mph with gusts up to 35. There's a chance for a rain/snow mix, but the wind is the concern here. The over/under on this game has dropped from 48.5 on Thursday to 46.5. We're docking the passing projections on both sides and would avoid the kickers.

Chris Godwin Out For Week 11

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bills. He was limited in practice all week, potentially setting him up for a Week 12 return. Godwin’s absence this weekend keeps WR Tez Johnson and TE Cade Otton in play as low-end fantasy starters.

        Chris Godwin Limited Wednesday

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) got in a practice limited on Wednesday -- his first since going down in Week 5. "Godwin is working his way back," HC Todd Bowles said. "He’s making good strides." We'll see if Godwin is able to play vs. the Bills this weekend. He wouldn't be a recommended fantasy start coming off the lengthy absence, but he'd add risk to WR Tez Johnson's fantasy outlook.

Chris Godwin Out A Few More Weeks?

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler hears that the Buccaneers are "thinking late-November or December" for WR Chris Godwin's return from his fibula injury. Tampa gets the Rams in Week 12 on November 23, the Cardinals in Week 13 on November 30, and the Saints in Week 14 on December 7. It sounds like Godwin is targeting a return sometime during that stretch. It'll be at least a week beyond his return before we could trust him in fantasy lineups. And we're skeptical that Godwin will be back to 100% at any point this season. He's not a must-hold in shallower fantasy leagues. WR Tez Johnson and TE Cade Otton will continue to play expanded roles in the short term. WR Mike Evans (collarbone) isn't likely to be back until Week 14 at the earliest.

Chris Godwin Out For Week 8

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (fibula) won't play vs. the Saints this weekend, HC Todd Bowles said Wednesday. We'll see if Godwin can make it back after Tampa Bay's Week 9 bye. With WR Mike Evans (collarbone) also out, rookie Tez Johnson figures to operate as the No. 2 WR vs. New Orleans. Sterling Shepard will remain in his slot role. See where those guys sit in the Week 8 WR rankings.

Emeka Egbuka Catches 4 Balls, Avoids Setbacks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka returned from a Week 6 hamstring injury and played 53 of Tampa's 68 snaps in their Monday Night loss to the Lions. Egbuka led the team with 12 targets and ranked second with 58 receiving yards. Most importantly, Egbuka emerged from the game healthy and will be counted on to be Tampa's No. 1 WR after Mike Evans broke his collarbone. Evans is slated to miss significant time.

        Mike Evans Has Broken Collarbone

Buccaneers WR Mike Evans broke his collarbone in Monday night's loss to the Lions, HC Todd Bowles said afterward. Bowles said Evans will miss most of the rest of the regular season. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport notes that the typical timeline for a broken collarbone would have Evans out until early-to-mid December. That's somewhere in the Week 14-16 range. That makes Evans stashable in fantasy leagues with IR spots or very deep benches. But he's droppable in the majority of fantasy leagues.

        Updates On Injured Buccaneers WRs

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport expects WR Emeka Egbuka to "miss some time" with the hamstring injury he suffered in the Week 6 win over the 49ers. The rookie is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. "Does not seem like it's that serious," Rapoport adds. Consider Egbuka unlikely to play vs. the Lions this weekend. Tampa Bay then gets the Saints in Week 8 before a Week 9 bye, so it's possible that we don't see Egbuka again until Week 10. Rapoport adds that WR Mike Evans is "nearing a return" from his hamstring injury, while WR Chris Godwin is "week-to-week" with his fibula injury. We'll see if Evans can make it back for the Lions game. If not, the Bucs will be down to Tez Johnson, Kameron Johnson, and Sterling Shepard as their top three WRs.
