Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks (illness) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Bills. He only got in a limited practice on Wednesday. Guys almost always play through illness, so we’re expecting Cooks to be out there this weekend. But we’ll look for further updates on his status. WR Jalen Tolbert (illness) is also questionable.

Cowboys Edge Micah Parsons is active for tonight's game against the Eagles. Dallas added him to the injury report Sunday morning as questionable with an illness. But all reports have indicated that the team doesn't expect the illness to alter his playing time.

The Cowboys have added Edge Micah Parsons to the injury report. He's questionable with an illness for tonight's game against the Eagles. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Parsons is still expected to play. So he should probably remain in most IDP lineups that have him set to start. We'll check his status ahead of the game, though.

With RB Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) sidelined, Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott got workhorse usage in Thursday night's win over the Steelers. Zeke played 91% of New England's offensive snaps and handled a whopping 30 of 32 RB opportunities. (RB Ty Montgomery got two targets.) Elliott didn't find much running room but compiled 68 yards on his 22 carries. He was much more effective as a receiver, catching seven of eight targets for 72 yards and the game's first TD. The end result was 140 total yards and the score, which will surely make Elliott a top-12 fantasy RB on the week. It's worth noting that the Patriots played with the lead for 56 minutes of this game, helping Elliott's volume. We can't expect that going forward. But with this type of playing time and opportunity share, Zeke looks like at least a weekly RB2 until Stevenson returns, which is unlikely to happen for at least another game or two.

Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott (thigh) is active for today’s game vs. the Chargers. Elliott sunk to a season-low 22% snap rate coming off the bye last week and would be a desperation Week 13 fantasy start.

Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott (thigh) is expected to play vs. the Chargers today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Elliott registered a season-low 22% snap rate coming off the bye last week. He'd be a desperation Week 13 fantasy play.

Patriots RB Ezekiel Elliott (thigh) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. We've heard nothing to suggest that Zeke is in danger of missing this one. But the thigh injury is just more reason to believe that RB Rhamondre Stevenson will control backfield work again this weekend.

Panthers WR Jonathan Mingo (Achilles) is not listed on the final Week 13 injury report. He was limited in Thursday’s practice but a full-go on Friday. He’ll play vs. the Bucs this weekend but would be a desperation fantasy start. The rookie has yet to top 10.2 PPR points in a game this season.

Panthers WR Jonathan Mingo was added to Thursday's injury report with an Achilles and limited in practice. Mid-week additions are always worrisome. Achilles injuries are always worrisome. We'll look for further updates on Mingo's situation.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott rebounded from a relative down week in the win at Carolina to hang 331 yards and 4 TD passes on the Commanders in Week 12. He did so while spreading the ball around more than usual. WR CeeDee Lamb led the way with 9 targets but posted just a 4-53-1 receiving line. WR Brandin Cooks snagged a 31-yard TD among his 4 receptions for 72 yards on 5 targets. The other two scores went to KaVontae Turpin from 34 yards out and RB Rico Dowdle on a 15-yard catch-and-run. The soft opponent certainly helped, but Prescott has now gone over 300 yards with 3+ TDs in four of his past five games. And his remaining schedule ranks third-best for QB scoring, with no truly worrisome spots. Prescott just might prove to be a league winner for 2023.

Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Commanders. He’ll again operate as Dallas’ No. 2 RB and is only in play as a cheap DFS flier.

Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game vs. the Commanders. He was able to play through this injury last week, so we're expecting him to be active tomorrow. But Dowdle is only in play as a DFS tournament flier. His absence would be a boost for RB Tony Pollard. Dowdle has averaged 6.8 carries and 1.0 target per game over the last four -- although a lot of that has come in garbage time.

Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle (ankle) did not practice on Tuesday. He played through this ankle issue last week, so we're tentatively expecting him to be available for Thursday's game vs. Washington. But we'll see how Dowdle is listed on the final injury report tomorrow.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 25 of 38 passes for 186 yards with 2 TDs in Week 11 vs. the Panthers. The veteran’s streak of three straight games with 300+ passing yards was snapped on Sunday, though the nature of the 33-10 blowout certainly impacted this outcome. For context, Prescott didn’t even play during the final 5:47 of the fourth quarter. Even so, a pair of throwing scores helped fantasy managers enough, and the Cowboys’ remaining schedule ranks as the easiest for QBs per our adjusted fantasy points allowed. Continue to comfortably start Prescott as a QB1 in lineups.

Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He was added to the injury report as questionable yesterday but is healthy enough to suit up for this one. Dowdle should remain Dallas’ No. 2 RB and would be a desperation fantasy play, especially at less than 100%.

Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle was added to the injury report on Saturday with an ankle and is now questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. Despite his 79-yard, one-TD effort in last week's blowout win over the Giants, Dowdle should not have been in your Week 11 fantasy plans. His absence tomorrow would be a slight boost to RB Tony Pollard's fantasy outlook.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that LB Leighton Vander Esch will miss the rest of the season with the neck injury that landed him on IR. Jones declined to say whether it might end the LB's career. Vander Esch has dealt with neck issues since college and sustained multiple injuries during his Dallas run. We'd bet that he's seriously considering whether to shut it down, at 27 and after six years in the league. We'll watch for further updates on that. For this year's Cowboys, the news means Damone Clark should lead the LB playing time the rest of the way. S/LB Markquese Bell has been running as the second LB since LVE went down. Bell's playing time appeared to decline sharply in Sunday's win over the Giants, though. We'll have to see this week how much of that came from the odd game script of the completely one-sided victory. For now, Bell is best left out of most IDP lineups. Clark looks like a weekly LB3 with upside into LB2 territory.

Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks exploded in Week 10, hauling in 9 of 10 targets for 173 receiving yards and a TD vs. the Giants. Sunday saw several Cowboys pass-catchers post great numbers, including WR CeeDee Lamb (11-151-1) and TE Jake Ferguson (4-26-1), but Cooks is the one that fantasy managers should be wary of chasing in the future. The 10 targets he saw on Sunday were his highest by far this season and mark only the second time in 2023 that Cooks has seen more than 4 in a single game. He and teammate Michael Gallup have essentially taken turns as the Cowboys' WR2 in terms of snap rate and route participation this year. It’s best to avoid chasing this performance if you’re looking for help on the waiver wire this week.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 26 of 35 passes for 404 yards with 4 TDs and 1 INT in Week 10 vs. the Giants. He also added 17 rushing yards and a TD on the ground in the contest. This man has been on an absolute tear of late. Over his past four games, Prescott is now averaging 338.5 passing yards and 3 TDs per game. Sunday’s performance is also notable as it marks the first time that the veteran signal-caller has thrown for over 400 yards in a game since 2021 Week 6. There’s good reason for fantasy managers to expect continued success from him moving forward as the Cowboys’ remaining schedule ranks fourth-easiest for QBs per our adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Chargers LBs Eric Kendricks (ribs) and Kenneth Murray (shoulder) are active for tonight's game against the Jets. You can use either as planned in IDP lineups.
