        Omarion Hampton Out Again Thursday

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. "We’re gonna wait and see on that," OC Greg Roman said of the rookie. "He’s working through his process with the medical group. He’s ready, mentally, with the gameplan, and then we’ll have to wait and see." We'll see if Hampton practices on Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report for Sunday night's game vs. the Patriots.

Kimani Vidal Doubles Omarion Hampton's Playing Time in Return

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton ran for 56 yards and caught the team's lone TD in his return Monday night from an ankle injury that had sidelined him since Week 5. Hampton rushed 13 times vs. 14 for Kimani Vidal, who officially got the start. Hampton also edged Vidal 2-1 in catches, though Vidal led the backfield in targets and routes. His 23 routes marked a 56% rate vs. total Chargers dropbacks and beat Hampton by 15. Vidal took his lone catch for 60 yards and gained 44 yards on his 14 rushes (3.1 per carry).

        Omarion Hampton A Full-Go Friday

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) was upgraded to full participation in Friday's practice. That should put him on track to return for Monday night's game vs. the Eagles. We'll see how Hampton is listed on Saturday's final injury report and look for any details on how much volume he'll get in his first action since Week 5. Hampton got a matchup upgrade with DL Jalen Carter out for Monday night's game.

        Kimani Vidal Hurts Thigh

Chargers RB Kimani Vidal is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars with a thigh injury. The broadcast showed him walking the sidelines with his helmet on, but we'll see if he gets back in the game. Vidal's absence leaves the Chargers with RBs Trayveon Williams and Amar Johnson.

Update: Vidal returned near the end of the second quarter.

Hassan Haskins Likely Out For Week 8

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh labeled RB Hassan Haskins doubtful for Thursday night's game vs. the Vikings due to a hamstring injury. Haskins has been vastly out-played by RB Kimani Vidal over the last two weeks, but he's still siphoned seven carries and three targets. His absence will leave Nyheim Hines as the Chargers' No. 2 RB, but we could see Vidal pick up more work. He's a solid RB2 in fantasy lineups in this week with six teams on bye.

Hassan Haskins Questionable For Week 7

Chargers RB Hassan Haskins (chest) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Colts. He was added to the injury report on Thursday but put in full practices that day and again on Friday. Haskins should be available for this one but would be a weak fantasy play after getting easily out-touched and out-produced by RB Kimani Vidal last week.

Omarion Hampton Expected To Miss More Than 4 Weeks

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton (ankle) is out at least the next four weeks on IR. But NFL Network's Mike Garafolo hears that the rookie will "likely" miss more time than that. "It's not a season-ending injury," Garafolo adds. The Chargers have a bye in Week 12 (six weeks from now), so it's possible that we don't see Hampton again until Week 13. Garafolo also reports that the Chargers have been calling around about potential trades for a RB. We'll see where that goes. And we'll see what this backfield looks like today with Hassan Haskins, Kimani Vidal, and Nyheim Hines.

Chargers Add Nyheim Hines To Injury-Depleted Backfield

The Chargers are signing RB Nyheim Hines to their practice squad. Hines hasn't played a regular-season snap since suffering a knee injury in a jet ski accident in 2023. He turns 29 next week. And, even before that injury, he was just a change-of-pace back, never topping 89 carries in an NFL season. The Chargers, of course, are without RB Omarion Hampton for at least the next four games -- after losing RB Najee Harris for the season. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal lead the most uninspiring RB room in the league. Hines was with the Chargers during training camp this season, but we'd still consider him a long shot to make a fantasy impact. He can stay on the waiver wire. If the Chargers are done adding to their backfield, it'd be good news for the upside on Haskins and Vidal.

Omarion Hampton "May Miss Time" With Ankle Injury

Chargers RB Omarion Hampton "may miss time" with the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Commanders, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This sounds more like speculation based on the fact that Hampton was in a walking boot after the game, rather than a concrete report from Rapsheet. Hampton is scheduled for additional testing on Monday. We'll update his status when we know more, but fantasy managers should start lining up replacement plans. Hassan Haskins was the first back to replace Hampton vs. Washington, although he ended up splitting opportunities 4 to 4 with Kimani Vidal after Hampton exited.

        Najee Harris Has Achilles Injury

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh confirmed after the Week 3 win over the Broncos that RB Najee Harris has an Achilles injury. He's set for additional testing, but this will most likely end up as a season-ending tear. That'd clear the way for RB Omarion Hampton to play a workhorse role the rest of the way. The rookie had his best game of the young season vs. Denver, running 19 times for 70 yards and a score and catching six of seven targets for 57 yards. Hassan Haskins will step in as Los Angeles' No. 2 RB, with RB Kimani Vidal likely to be elevated from the practice squad.

J.K. Dobbins Active, Kimani Vidal A Healthy Scratch

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins (ankle) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s safe to assume he won’t be at 100%. RB Gus Edwards is also back from his knee injury for this one and figures to mix in behind Dobbins. RB Kimani Vidal is a healthy scratch, leaving Hassan Haskins as the No. 3 RB.

J.K. Dobbins To Miss Time With Knee Sprain

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins will miss time with a knee sprain he suffered in Monday night's loss to the Ravens, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He’s out this week against the Falcons and up in the air after that," Rapoport adds. We'll look for more details on Dobbins' injury and timeline for return, but it sounds like there's a chance he misses multiple games. We'd try to keep Dobbins stashed on fantasy benches for now. His absence leaves RB Gus Edwards as the Chargers' lead runner vs. Atlanta this weekend. We're expecting RB Hassan Haskins to mix in on early downs and RB Kimani Vidal to handle most of the passing downs.

        J.K. Dobbins Stays Busy

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins posted 98 yards, 1 TD, and a season-high 25 carries in Sunday's win over Denver. Previously, he hadn't topped 17 rush attempts this season. Note that Gus Edwards missed this one with an ankle injury.

Gus Edwards Out at Least Four Games

The Chargers have placed RB Gus Edwards on IR with his ankle injury. That means he'll miss at least the next four games. That absence makes rookie RB Kimani Vidal and RB Hassan Haskins worth stashing on fantasy rosters. Haskins has played 7 snaps to 0 for Vidal but has also tied for second-most special teams snaps among all Chargers. We'll see this week how backfield touches get spread -- behind J.K. Dobbins -- this week. Vidal remains more interesting for fantasy upside, given that we haven't yet seen him flunk out with an NFL team. Haskins landed with the Titans in Round 4 of the 2022 draft and got dumped after two seasons. He did play for Jim Harbaugh in college, though.

J.K. Dobbins says he's 100% recovered from Achilles injury

Chargers RB J.K. Dobbins said Monday that he's 100% recovered from the torn Achilles he suffered last September. "It was like a walk in the park, it was like a sprained ankle," Dobbins said. "It was very easy, because I had the knee [injury] -- the knee was pretty hard. The Achilles was, I would say, easy, just because that's my mentality. It was pretty easy to me." We'll file this under "believe-it-when-we-see-it." Full health is not the same as full effectiveness. RB Cam Akers quickly made it back from an Achilles injury but hasn't been the same runner since. Dobbins still isn't a player to invest heavily in at this point. But we'll be keeping a close eye on him this spring and summer. The Chargers' backfield will be a key situation for fantasy owners to monitor, with Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and rookie Kimani Vidal duking it out for touches.
