Giants HC Brian Daboll said Sunday that QB Tyrod Taylor "should be OK" after his injury in the preseason finale, according to Dan Salomone of the team website. Taylor left the field in the 1st half and then rode from the medical tent to the locker room on a cart with a back injury. We'll see whether he's back in time for the regular-season opener.

Giants HC Brian Daboll said Tuesday morning that QB Tyrod Taylor "probably will get snaps at some point this preseason with the first team offense," according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. Daboll followed that by saying the team has "full confidence" in QB Daniel Jones. But this seems like more than a just in case of injury scenario. Reports on Jones out of training camp haven't been good. We have to at least consider it possible that he gets yanked for Taylor at some point this season if the struggles spill over into the real games.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Giants are expected to sign QB Tyrod Taylor to a 2-year, $17 million deal, with $8.5 million of that guaranteed. Taylor will back up Daniel Jones, and his work with Houston last year -- where he lost the starting job to 3rd-round rookie Davis Mills -- points to Taylor not being a threat to Jones' job. So this move looks like good news or Jones' chances of making it through 2022 as the Giants starter.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Texans QB Tyrod Taylor "is believed to have suffered possible torn ligaments" in his left wrist. That's awkwardly worded, and Rapoport adds that Houston has yet to rule Taylor out for even Week 14. But the injury is at least a mark against a veteran who played so poorly in Sunday's shutout loss to the Colts that he got yanked for rookie Davis Mills. HC David Culley said Monday morning that no decision has been made on the Week 14 QB starter yet, but it's tough to see what Houston would gain by going back to Taylor. This decision, of course, carries minimal fantasy importance.

Update: Rapoport reports the team now considers Taylor "week-to-week" and expects to start Mills in Week 14.
