Shark Bites

Chargers QB Justin Herbert (ribs) is active for today’s game vs. the Jaguars. It’s worth noting that, per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, QB Chase Daniel was announced as the starter on the jumbotron about 30 minutes ago. Los Angeles also has all 3 QBs active today, rather than the usual 2. We’ll see if he can figure out who’s starting this game before kickoff.

Recent Shark Bites

Chargers QB Justin Herbert threw for 274 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Herbert hit WR Keenan Allen, WR DeAndre Carter and RB Austin Ekeler for TDs. The 1-yarder to Ekeler with 15 seconds left won the game. Ekeler (15) and Carter (10) combined for 53.2% of Herbert's pass attempts and 51.4% of his completions for the game. Carter caught 7 for 73 yards. WR Josh Palmer went 5-56 on 7 targets. Allen finished with 5 receptions for 49 yards. TE Gerald Everett added 4 catches for 18 yards on 4 targets. The Chargers get a soft Raiders defense in Week 13.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert posted a season-high 9.3 yards per pass attempt in Sunday night's loss to the Chiefs, finishing with 280 yards on 23-of-30 passing. He got WR Mike Williams back only briefly, as Williams tweaked his sprained ankle after just 1 target. WR Keenan Allen, however, racked up 5 catches for 94 yards among 8 targets in his most extensive action of the season. Allen had appeared for abbreviated stretches in just 2 previous games because of a nagging hamstring injury. There's room for Herbert to be a fantasy difference maker the rest of the way, with the league's 2nd-best remaining QB schedule.

Chargers QB Justin Herbergt managed just 196 passing yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in Sunday night's loss to the 49ers. It marked the 1st time this season that he fell short of 200 yards but his 4th straight game short of 6 yards per pass attempt. NBC's Cris Collinsworth said after the game that the Chargers hope to get Keenan Allen and/or Mike Williams back for Week 11. That would obviously help the QB.

Missing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams due to injuries, Chargers QB Justin Herbert managed only 245 yards and 1 TD in Week 9. He added 1 INT on 43 attempts — T-3rd-most on the week. Forced to play hero ball while dealing with 4 dropped passes, Herbert wound up with the 4th highest PFF passing grade. Week 10 turns up a much tougher road matchup at San Francisco. Herbert will likely remain without both Allen and Williams, too.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert went without a TD pass in Monday night's win over Denver. That’s happened only one other time in his career, and it’s especially shocking considering he attempted 57 passes in Week 6. It’s worth noting that Keenan Allen (hamstring) remained out, and a shaky O-line allowed constant pressure. Herbert's 4.17 YPA -- the 2nd lowest total of his career -- is still a shocker. He leaned heavily on short throws to Josh Palmer (12 targets) and Austin Ekeler (16 targets). Fortunately, the 3rd-year passer is poised to rebound this week vs. Seattle.
