Saints RB Alvin Kamara plans to meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell regarding a potential suspension. "I think Alvin really wants to get out ahead of this and have a chance to visit with Roger and kind of give him his side of the story," HC Dennis Allen said. "And look, at the end of the day, I think part of it is 'let's get some resolution with where we're at and move forward.' I think Alvin is looking forward to putting this behind him and focusing in on what he has to do to be the best he can for our team this season.” Kamara no longer faces felony charges following a recent plea agreement. Still, the veteran RB could earn a short suspension from the league.
Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the meeting will take place Wednesday.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara struggled in Week 9 vs. the Bears, logging just 70 total yards on a combined 13 touches. His 11 PPR points ranked 16th among RBs entering Sunday night football, so it’s not as though he was awful, but it’s a far cry from the 20.8 points per game he’d averaged over the previous six contests. Kamara’s schedule stays tough this week at the Vikings. Then comes a Week 11 bye. Of course, the superstar RB remains a locked-in starter across formats.
Saints HC Dennis Allen said Monday that he wants to balance out the backfield work a bit more going forward. RB Alvin Kamara racked up 17 carries and 14 targets in the Thursday night loss to the Saints, while RB Jamaal Williams finished with five carries and RB Kendre Miller none. Allen said that Williams was on a snap count in his first game back from a hamstring injury and that Miller had shoulder irritation pre-game. Any work those guys take from Kamara figures to come on the ground. Kamara should continue to dominate passing-game work.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara secured a massive 87% of the team’s RB touch opportunities in Week 6 vs. the Texans. The veteran logged 19 carries for 68 yards on the ground with an additional 7 catches for 36 yards as a receiver in Sunday’s loss. He’s been a true workhorse since returning from suspension and should again see a lot of work on Thursday night’s Week 7 showdown vs. the Jaguars.
Saints RB Alvin Kamara shouldered a massive workload in Week 5, tallying 25 touches for 97 total yards vs. the Patriots. He didn’t see nearly as much receiving work in the game (3 catches), but that’s likely due to the fact that the Saints never trailed at any point in their 34-0 blowout win. Rookie Kendre Miller had a tremendous game, logging 37 rushing yards and contributing 4 catches for 54 receiving yards in the contest. With Jamaal Williams still sidelined with a hamstring injury, it’s conceivable that both Miller and Kamara will be solid options again next week vs. the Texans.
Making his 2023 debut, Saints RB Alvin Kamara racked up 13 catches on 14 targets (30 routes run). Wow. Kamara gained only 33 yards, but he was clearly needed with Derek Carr battling a shoulder injury. He led the way on the ground, too, gaining 51 yards on 11 attempts. We’ll check on Carr’s practice participation, but Kamara’s volume should remain favorable next Sunday at New England.
