Shark Bites

Jaguars beat writer John Shipley believes TE Evan Engram has performed better in training camp this year than he did in 2022. Engram, of course, broke out with 73-766-4 in his Jags debut. Calvin Ridley’s arrival takes some shine off Engram’s fantasy appeal. Still, the 29-year-old profiles as a top-12 option.

Recent Shark Bites

The TD train kept on rolling for Jaguars TE Evan Engram in Week 14 vs. the Browns. The veteran concluded Sunday’s action with 11 receptions on 12 targets for 95 yards and 2 TDs, all team highs. This contest also marks his first stretch of back-to-back TD games since Week 13-14 in 2022. Engram now leads the Jags in targets, receptions, and receiving yards over the past three weeks and should be firmly entrenched in fantasy lineups from here on out. The difficult nature of his remaining matchups (second-toughest TE schedule per our adjusted fantasy points allowed) should be offset by the high concentration of work Engram has seen lately.

Jaguars TE Evan Engram finally found the end zone in Week 13, finishing Monday night’s game vs. the Bengals with a team-high 9 catches on as many targets for 82 receiving yards. His 23.2 PPR points in the contest rank second among all TEs in Week 13 and stand as Engram’s highest mark of the season. As disappointing as it was to see QB Trevor Lawrence leave with a late ankle injury, fantasy managers should keep in mind that a healthy portion of Engram’s production (4 catches and 31 yards) came on Jacksonville’s final two drives with backup C.J. Beathard under center. Engram will likely remain among our top 12 weekly TEs even if Lawrence misses time.

Jaguars TE Evan Engram caught all 10 of his targets for a team-high 88 yards in Sunday's win at Pittsburgh. That pushes his season catch rate to 83.6%, nearly 10 percentage points higher than last season. That 74.5% in Engram's first year with the Jaguars set a career high. His 8.5 yards per reception, though, marks a career low -- 2.0 short of last year's mark. Matchups with San Francisco and Tennessee after the Week 9 bye favor passing, which can obviously only help Engram.

Jaguars TE Evan Engram snagged all 7 targets in Sunday's lopsided win over the Colts. He turned that into just 41 yards, though, with nearly half of that coming on a single 19-yard reception. Engram easily led Jacksonville in receptions, with just one teammate catching more than three. It was Engram's third game of 7 receptions among the past four. Engram also has yet to average 10 yards per catch or score a TD in a game, though. That makes him a high-floor, low-ceiling fantasy producer.

Jaguars TE Evan Engram hauled in 7 of 8 targets for a team-leading 67 receiving yards in Sunday’s loss vs. the Texans. Teammate WR Christian Kirk struggled for much of the contest before finding the end zone on a 26-yard dart. Perhaps the biggest concern from Week 3 is WR Calvin Ridley. The veteran only roped in 3 of 7 targets for 40 yards and dropped two passes in the end zone. This is the second week in a row that Ridley and QB Trevor Lawrence failed to get on the same page, despite abundant efforts. We’re starting to get a little nervous about this offense headed toward Week 4 vs. the Falcons.
