Steelers QB Russell Wilson is receiving the first-team reps at practice this week, putting him in line to start Sunday night's game vs. the Jets. Justin Fields has been the QB for the first six weeks and helped Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record, but Wilson will now get his shot.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network: "Sources: The Steelers plan to give Russell Wilson first-team reps in practice this week, putting him in line to make his season debut and start Sunday night against the Jets.
Pittsburgh is 4-2 with Justin Fields. But Wilson’s calf is fully healed and now he gets his shot."
Fields has been dynamic for the Steelers with his rushing ability, leading the team to a 4-2 record. But, losses to the Colts and Cowboys due to a lack of offense seems to have allowed the Steelers to go with their original plan: Wilson at QB.
Wilson will be on a much shorter leash with Fields' success, however, and could be pulled if things go awry.
For fantasy, Wilson should be an upgrade for WR George Pickens and TE Pat Freiermuth with a bit more passing likely, though the offense will still be rushing focused.
