As expected, the Vikings' D will miss rookie LB Anthony Barr for today's matchup with the Jets. Barr was doubtful with a knee injury that forced him out of last week's game early. DT Sharrif Floyd is active, however, after sitting out much of the 2nd half in Week 13. He probably would have played longer if the Vikes hadn't been blowing out the Panthers, though, and is a fine IDP bet for Week 14.

The Vikings will miss LB Anthony Barr on Sunday. The rookie is doubtful for the Jets' visit because of a knee injury that forced him out of the Week 13 game early. DT Sharrif Floyd is expected to play, however. He's probable with his knee trouble after putting in limited workouts all week. The Vikings D overall continues to look good against the Jets.

The Vikings watched 2 defensive starters spend most of Sunday's 2nd half on the sideline because of knee injuries. Rookie OLB Anthony Barr said his knee "locked up" at halftime, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and then left for good midway through the 3rd quarter. “It’s been bugging me for a little bit, but it didn’t bug me as much as it did today,” Barr said afterward. Floyd's knee injury cost him Week 12 and the 1st 2 practice days leading up to Sunday's win over the Panthers, but he returned to a 3rd-down pass-rushing role vs. Carolina. HC Mike Zimmer said the staff decided to take Floyd out after he "pulled something" with the Vikes leading 28-6.

Vikings DE Brian Robison told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he believes rookie LB Anthony Barr can "be a force to be reckoned with" as a pass-rusher as he refines his technique.  Robison lauded the versatility that Barr affords the defense, with his ability to rush from a standup LB position or put a hand down and play DE.  Minnesota quickly inserted Barr into the starting lineup as the strong-side LB and plans to keep him on the field as a pass-rusher in sub packages.  Barr makes for a high-upside IDP option right away, especially in scoring formats that favor big plays.  Don't expect big value in a tackle-leaning IDP system, though.

The Vikings picked UCLA LB Anthony Barr 9th overall in the NFL draft.  Barr spent just 2 college seasons on defense after playing RB and TE his 1st 2 seasons.  He delivered 23.5 sacks and 41.5 total tackles for loss in those 2 years, though.  That shows immense upside in what might still be a raw player.  We'll see whether Minnesota plays him at DE right away or uses him at LB on early downs and a rusher in passing situations.  The Vikings just gave DE Everson Griffen a big contract to keep him from leaving in free agency.  Incumbent left DE Brian Robison is 31 but is also signed through 2017.  The crowd makes it tough to see immediate fantasy value for Barr.  He holds plenty of potential in your IDP dynasty league, though.
