Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said he pulled QB Baker Mayfield from Sunday's game in Pittsburgh because of his rib injury and that Mayfield is still the starter when healthy. We'll keep an eye on Mayfield's status this coming week. He has a much easier Week 7 draw vs. the Bengals.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield was pulled late in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game in Pittsburgh. No word yet on whether he's hurt or benched. Mayfield entered this one dealing with a rib injury and struggled mightily, completing 10 of 18 passes for 119 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. He was sacked 4 times. QB Case Keenum is in for Cleveland.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (ribs) is active for today’s game against the Steelers. At less than 100% vs. a defense that brings a ton of pressure, he’s a shaky QB2.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (ribs) will start against the Steelers today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. There was never much concern about Mayfield's availability, especially after he put in a full practice on Friday. He still figures to be operating at less than 100% today, though, adding risk to his fantasy profile.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (ribs) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Steelers. He was limited in the week’s first 2 practices but was a full participant on Friday. HC Kevin Stefanski wouldn’t commit to Mayfield being available vs. Pittsburgh, but he seems to be trending that way. We’ll get his official status by noon ET on Sunday.

QB Baker Mayfield's rib X-rays Sunday came back negative, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. So Mayfield suffered no fracture when he took a hard shot late in Sunday's win over the Colts. He should be good to go for the Week 6 visit to Pittsburgh.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield injured his right (throwing) shoulder late in Sunday’s win over the Colts. He went to the medical tent before returning to finish out the game. As we saw with Jets QB Sam Darnold, though, that doesn’t necessarily mean Mayfield is out of the woods. His status bears monitoring this coming week.

Update: HC Kevin Stefanski said that Mayfield was getting X-rays on his ribs. We'll keep an eye on the situation.

The Browns have named Alex Van Pelt their OC. The former NFL QB has spent the past 14 seasons coaching in Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Green Bay and Cincinnati. He was an OC for just 1 of those years, though: for a 2009 Bills squad that ranked 30th in total yards and 28th in points with QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards. It's unclear whether Van Pelt or new HC Kevin Stefanski will call plays in Cleveland.

The Browns are set to hire Kevin Stefanski as their new HC. Stefanski has spent the past 14 seasons in Minnesota under multiple coaching staffs. He took over as interim OC late in the 2018 campaign and was named OC for 2019. The Vikings ranked 16th in total yards, 10th in yards per play and 8th in points this past year. They were the league's 3rd run-heaviest offense -- although assistant coach Gary Kubiak seemingly had a lot to do with that. We'll keep an eye on Stefanski's plans for a Browns offense loaded with talent.

The Browns have fired HC Freddie Kitchens. He seemed overmatched in his 1st go-around as a HC, leading the Browns to a disappointing 6-10 campaign. We'll see who Cleveland tabs as Kitchens' replacement. There's plenty of talent on this roster, so a big step forward in 2020 is plenty possible.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (hand, ribs) isn’t listed on the final injury report. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. Mayfield has some spot-start appeal in Sunday’s plus matchup against the Bengals’ 26th-ranked QB defense.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield confirmed that he expects to play against the Bengals this weekend after injuring his right hand in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. HC Freddie Kitchens called the injury a contusion. “The X-rays were negative, so that’s good news," Mayfield said. "Just got a little numb, took some medicine and went back out there. So we’ll see.” Mayfield went just 8 of 15 for 98 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT after returning from the injury for the 2nd half in Pittsburgh.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield smacked his right hand on a follow-through on a late 2nd-quarter pass in Sunday's game against the Steelers. He headed back to the locker room with trainers. We'll see if Mayfield is able to return for the 2nd half or if Cleveland is forced to turn to QB Garrett Gilbert.

Update: Mayfield returned for the start of the 2nd half.
