Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. He remained limited in practice all week and, as of Friday, still hadn’t been cleared for contact. The good news is that we’ll get Howard’s official status by noon ET on Sunday. He’ll be a risk/reward RB3 if active. If not, Miles Sanders will again operate as Philly’s lead back.

Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) still hasn't been cleared for contact as of Friday morning, HC Doug Pederson said. We'll see how Philly lists Howard on the final injury report this afternoon. His absence would again leave Miles Sanders as the lead back. He disappointed in the box score last week but played 85% of the offensive snaps.

Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) remained limited in Wednesday's practice. He was limited all last week before missing the Patriots game. Howard is still waiting for full medical clearance. We'll see if he can get it over the next few days. If not, Miles Sanders will again serve as Philly's lead back against the Seahawks on Sunday.

Eagles RB Jordan Howard (stinger) is inactive for today’s game against the Patriots. RBs Miles Sanders, Boston Scott and Jay Ajayi are all active. Sanders is fully expected to serve as the lead back and is a nice RB2 vs. a New England defense that’s been gashed for 5.3 yards per carry by RBs over the past 5 weeks.

Eagles RB Jordan Howard (shoulder) will miss today's game against the Patriots, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Jay Ajayi is expected to be active and get touches, though Miles Sanders and Boston Scott "will carry the load." Sanders makes for a solid volume play in fantasy football lineups, especially in full PPR formats.

Eagles RB Jordan Howard (stinger) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. He still hadn’t been cleared for contact as of Friday morning, so he’s in legitimate danger of missing this one. Philly signed RB Jay Ajayi on Friday, but rookie Miles Sanders will serve as the lead back if Howard can’t go. Note that the Patriots have allowed 5.3 yards per carry to RBs over the past 5 weeks.

The Eagles are set to sign RB Jay Ajayi, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. RB Jordan Howard is dealing with a stinger and is in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Patriots. Ajayi has been unemployed all season but spent part of 2017 and all of 2018 with Philadelphia. He's worth adding if you have a roster spot to play with, but he still seems like a long shot for 2019 fantasy value.

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Monday that RB Jordan Howard will continue to get the highest share of the team's carries going forward, according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. That's not a surprise, given that Howard has topped Miles Sanders in carries for 2 straight weeks and scored rushing TDs in 3 straight. It's nice to have a coach come out and say it, though, so we don't have to guess as much at the committee breakdown. Pederson's revelation doesn't kill the fantasy outlook for Sanders, who garnered 5 of Philly's 6 RB pass targets in the win over the Jets. (Howard saw none.) Both will remain relevant, but treat Howard as the top option until further notice.

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Monday that RB Darren Sproles is "week to week" with a quad strain. Sproles has totaled just 6 carries and 2 targets over the past 3 weeks, so there's not much of a fantasy impact here. Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders will continue to share backfield duties in Philly.

Eagles GM Howie Roseman said during a Saturday press conference, "We've been looking for a runner like Miles for a few years," according to NBC Sports Philadelphia. It was obvious that Philly liked Sanders when the franchise selected him in Round 2. These words from Roseman, however, could point to the new guy having a bigger workload share ahead of him than other RBs in the Doug Pederson era. Pederson's Eagles have run with a true committee. Amid personnel shuffling and injuries, no RB has reached a 37% share of team carries in any of his 3 seasons. Philly just traded for Jordan Howard this offseason, of course, but gave up a mere 6th-round pick for a RB in the final year of his rookie contract. Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement and Darren Sproles remain from last year's squad, but only Adams has reached 100 carries under Pederson and none has topped 120. Adams is also coming off shoulder surgery. None of those players looks like a big threat to Sanders' touch outlook. We wouldn't bet on workhorse touches for the rookie, but Sanders might just be the best bet to lead the backfield in opportunities right away.

The Eagles selected Penn State RB Miles Sanders with the 53rd pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. The #1 RB in the 2016 recruiting class spent his first 2 years on campus playing behind Saquon Barkley but flashed with 6.7 yards per carry on 56 attempts. He finally got his shot at lead duties in 2018 and impressed. Sanders took 220 carries for 1,274 yards (5.8 YPC) and 9 TDs, adding 139 more yards on 24 receptions. Then he crushed the Combine, registering a 73rd percentile SPARQ score at 5’11 and 211 pounds. Sanders is relatively inexperienced, dances behind the line of scrimmage too often and has ball-security concerns after fumbling 5 times last year. But he has the size, athleticism and pass-catching ability to develop into a lead back as a pro. He joins a crowded backfield in Philly alongside Jordan Howard, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement and Josh Adams. Sanders might already be the most talented of the bunch, though. And Howard is set to hit free agency next offseason.

Check out Miles Sanders' scouting report.

The Eagles have traded for RB Jordan Howard, giving a conditional 6th-round pick that could become a 5th-rounder, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. So even the worst-case scenario here for Philadelphia would mean giving a pick in the round in which Chicago drafted Howard. The 24-year-old -- until November -- gives the Eagles a younger player to fulfill a role likely similar to what LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi played the past couple of years. At the very least, Howard looks like Philly's best bet near the goal line. We'll see if the Eagles add anything else to the position in the NFL Draft. In Chicago, meanwhile, RB Mike Davis appears ready to take over Howard's vacated role and looks like an option late in the single-digit rounds of best-ball drafts.

7:03pm EDT 3/11/19

The Bears have added free-agent RB Mike Davis. The former Seahawk was sneaky-good last year, averaging 4.6 yards per carry on 112 attempts and posting a 34-214-1 receiving line. Pro Football Focus graded him 25th among 62 RBs -- notably 12 spots ahead of new teammate Jordan Howard. Howard has been the subject of trade whispers, although we're not sure Davis' addition is a precursor. We'll see.

Update: Davis' deal is for 2 years and $6 million with a max value of $7 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bears HC Matt Nagy said Monday that he'll be "smart" with his starters in Sunday's finale against the Vikings. Chicago still has a shot at the #2 seed -- but only if the Rams lose to the 49ers. If the Rams are up big in the 2nd half, guys like QB Mitchell Trubisky, RBs Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen, WR Allen Robinson and TE Trey Burton could get pulled.

New Bears HC Matt Nagy likes what he's seen from RB Tarik Cohen both on film and early in the offseason program. “He’s a run threat and then he can catch the ball in space in broken formations," Nagy said. “That’s an advantage for the play callers and the play designers to be able to do some different things. We can move him around and try to get an advantage. … He’s dynamic." Cohen is coming off a promising rookie season that saw him average 4.3 yards per carry on 87 attempts and tally 53 catches. Nagy said recently that Jordan Howard will remain the team's lead back, but there's certainly room for Cohen to tack on another 20 or 30 touches to last year's total. He's fairly valued at his current 7th-round ADP.

Today's Browns-Bears game will be played in snowy conditions. (Here's video from Soldier Field about 2 hours before kickoff.) Temperatures will be in the mid-20s with winds of 8-12 mph. This figured to be a run-heavy game plan from both teams anyway, and the weather will only push them further in that direction.
