Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake left Sunday's loss at Carolina early with what was deemed a chest injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, however, that Drake "just got the wind knocked out of him" and was already working out Monday morning with "no issues." So health should not be a factor in whether to keep Drake in Week 5 fantasy football lineups.

Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake appeared to suffer an injury late in the 4th quarter of Sunday's loss to the Panthers. Drake was able to get off the field under his own power before heading back to the locker room. HC Kliff Kingsbury had no update on Drake afterward. We'll look for one tomorrow. Chase Edmonds would step in as Arizona's lead back if Drake misses time.

Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake isn't listed on the Week 1 injury report. The foot issue that had him in a walking boot at the end of August obviously isn't a concern now. Drake is safe to get into Week 1 fantasy lineups.

Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury said RB Kenyan Drake (foot) and WR DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) are "close" to returning to full practices. "We talked about all along we want to get them into game week and make sure they are comfortable with the game plan and then let them loose," Kingsbury said. "We know what we've got in them." We'll continue to keep an eye on both guys, but neither has moved down the rankings due to his injury.

Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake was out of his walking boot and jogging during Friday's practice, according to Kyle Odegard of the team's official site. We still don't have any details on Drake's injury. But HC Kliff Kingsbury hasn't sounded concerned, and Drake is obviously trending in the right direction. There's still elevated risk here -- but Drake's upside makes him worth the risk in the late 1st round or anywhere in the 2nd round of fantasy drafts. His ADP has sunk to 16th overall in best-ball drafts over the past few days.

Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury didn't seem concerned about RB Kenyan Drake and his walking boot when asked on Monday. "It's just some normal nicks and bruises, normal camp stuff," Kingsbury said. "It's just kind of precautionary with him, knowing what he'll be able to do." Drake himself tweeted, "no worries I'm good." So it doesn't sound like this is something to worry too much about, but we'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation. Drake is in line to handle a feature workload for the 1st time since at least high school. He didn't top 170 carries in any of his 4 seasons at Alabama or first 4 NFL campaigns.

Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake was sporting a walking boot at Monday's practice. Before you freak out, HC Kliff Kingsbury says it's a precautionary move due to "general training camp soreness." We'll certainly keep a close eye on Drake going forward, but we're not moving him in the RB rankings right now.

The Cardinals selected Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft. We’re surprised he lasted this long. Benjamin is a fun watch; a Tazmanian Devil-style runner who darts and spins his way through traffic. Some scouts think he does too much dancing, though, which might explain his underwhelming 5.0 career yards per carry. Benjamin ranked a mediocre 15th among 21 of this year’s top RB prospects in Pro Football Focus’ 2019 Elusive Rating and 14th in the site’s rushing grades. And although he racked up 553 carries over the past 2 years, the 5’9, 207-pounder is likely too small to handle big workloads as a pro. On the plus side, Benjamin tested as a 72nd percentile athlete at the Combine and leads this RB class in career receptions (82), career receptions per game (2.4) and 2019 market share of receptions (18.0%). He should compete with Chase Edmonds for change-of-pace duties behind Kenyan Drake in Arizona.

The Cardinals have traded RB David Johnson to the Texans, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. No word yet on the details of the trade, but Arizona will reportedly take on some of Johnson's salary. It reeks of a salary-dump maneuver with a 28-year-old RB coming off an ugly 2019 campaign. Johnson missed 3 games last year and averaged just 3.7 yards per carry. Among 68 RBs with 50+ carries, he ranked 38th in Pro Football Focus' rushing grades and 67th in Elusive Rating. There's plenty of opportunity in Houston with both Carlos Hyde and Lamar Miller free agents, but we'd expect the Texans to add more to the backfield alongside David and Duke Johnson. Meanwhile, Kenyan Drake is set up for a big workload in Arizona.

The Cardinals have used their transition tag on RB Kenyan Drake. The move means Drake can negotiate with other teams as a free agent, but Arizona has the right to match any offer. We'll see where this goes, but it's mostly likely that Drake remains with the Cardinals in 2020. He was awesome after arriving from Miami last year, averaging 80.4 rushing yards per game on 5.2 yards per carry -- plus 3.5 catches and 21.4 receiving yards per game. Drake ranked 4th among RBs in PPR points across those 8 games.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring) is expected back for Sunday's game against the Rams, HC Kliff Kingsbury said Monday. Edmonds turned in a huge Week 7 before going down with the hammy in Week 8. Since then, Kenyan Drake has impressed as Arizona's lead back. It's unclear how the Cards will divvy work between Drake, Edmonds and David Johnson -- although Kingsbury said, "It's on us as an offensive staff to find different ways to get them involved and get them the football." Drake is the best fantasy bet for Week 13 but should be considered a risk/reward RB3.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game against the 49ers. Kenyan Drake out-snapped and out-touched David Johnson last week and is the better Week 11 fantasy bet.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds is expected to miss "a few weeks" with the hamstring injury he suffered in yesterday's loss to the Saints, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Arizona has a Week 12 bye, so Week 13 seems like the most realistic return date for Edmonds. We'll see what the backfield looks like at that point with David Johnson rehabbing his ankle injury and Kenyan Drake now in the mix.

The Cardinals have agreed to send a conditional 2020 draft pick to the Dolphins in exchange for RB Kenyan Drake, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Arizona has lost RB David Johnson to an ankle injury and RB Chase Edmonds to a hamstring injury over the past couple of weeks. Both guys seem unlikely to be ready for Thursday night's game against the 49ers. Schefter confirms that Drake "could be in line for significant work" in that one. There's nice short-term opportunity here, so Drake is worth rostering in all fantasy leagues. But he figures to struggle for volume when Johnson and Edmonds get healthy.

Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake didn't travel with the team to Pittsburgh and will be a healthy scratch for Monday night's game against the Steelers. Miami is trying to protect Drake ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. We'll see where he lands. It'll be Mark Walton as Miami's lead back on Monday night and for the rest of the season.

11:10am EDT 10/13/19

Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (foot) is active for today’s game against the Redskins. He played behind both Kenyan Drake and Mark Walton last time out, so Ballage isn’t a fantasy option.

Dolphins HC Brian Flores plans on giving RB Kenyan Drake a bunch of Week 1 touches. “I think he’s both physically and mentally ready,” Flores said Wednesday. “This is a guy who has as much talent as we have on our team. He’s fast. He’s physical. He’s explosive. He makes a lot of plays, and we’re looking forward to getting him a lot of touches this week.” It wasn't a great August for Drake, who was working behind Kalen Ballage early in training camp and then missed about 3 weeks with a foot injury. But he says he's back to 100% and is listed as the starter on Miami's latest depth chart. Supporting cast remains a major concern for Drake. But he's a talented player. And if he can get 15+ touches per game, he'll be a weekly fantasy starter. Consider him a RB3 or flex in a tough Week 1 matchup vs. the Ravens.

Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake (foot) was on the field for Monday's practice, according to insider Joe Schad. It's unclear how much Drake will do, but it's another step in the right direction after we heard that he was out of his walking boot and jogging before Thursday's preseason game. Drake now seems to have a good shot to be ready for Week 1. RB Kalen Ballage did nothing to take advantage of Drake's absence in that 3rd exhibition, mustering just 17 yards on 12 carries. We're expecting this to be a committee backfield out of the gate, but we'd much rather draft the superior talent. That's Drake.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports that Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake is out of his walking boot and was jogging before Thursday's preseason game. So he's making tangible progress from the foot injury he suffered 8 days ago. But Drake should still be considered questionable to be ready for Week 1. We'll continue to keep an eye on him.
