The Packers signed WR Jordy Nelson to a 4-year extension worth $39 million, including $14.2 million guaranteed. It’s a well-earned raise. Nelson’s developed into Aaron Rodgers’ top target over the past few years, notching 30 TDs since 2011. He’s locked in as a WR1 in fantasy. Green Bay could now turn up the heat on negotiations with Randall Cobb, who enters the final year of his rookie contract.

The Packers offense is looking to play faster in 2014. HC Mike McCarthy wants to run 75 plays per game. That’d easily lead the league and probably isn’t realistic. Denver ran an NFL-high 72 plays per game last year. Green Bay averaged 67 plays per game. But that number climbed to 69 in games QB Aaron Rodgers finished. "Aaron Rodgers is a beast the way he plays the game, the way he attacks the defense, whether it's his cadence, his ability to recognize defenses to take advantage of a certain pressure, and then on top of it he's so well-rehearsed in this offense," McCarthy said. “Playing faster” has become the overused buzz term over the past couple offseasons, but the Packers certainly have the personnel to make it happen. More plays would obviously mean more fantasy upside for Rodgers, RB Eddie Lacy and WRs Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Jarrett Boykin.

The Packers added WR Davante Adams with the 53rd pick of the draft.  The Fresno St. product totaled a whopping 233 catches over the past 2 seasons in a pass-happy attack.  He's a 6'1, 212-pounder with a big catching radius and sticky hands.  Adams has drawn comparisons to Michael Crabtree and James Jones.  He'll serve as Green Bay's 4th WR in 2014, but Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are both free agents next offseason.  Adams is a recommended dynasty stash.

Just days after each returned from multi-week injury layoffs, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Randall Cobb didn't even appear on Wednesday's injury report.  Rodgers faced no limitations while playing every snap of the Week 17 victory over Chicago.  Cobb could see his role grow in Sunday's Wild Card clash with the Niners after he played just 37 of 78 snaps against the Bears.  He played 85% or more of the Packers' offensive snaps in each of his 4 healthy games to start the season.  Of course, Cobb showed with 2 TDs in Week 17 that he doesn't need a full load to deliver big fantasy football upside.

As expected, the Packers have activated WR Randall Cobb for today's finale at Chicago.  It's tough to know how big a role he'll play, but Green Bay can't afford to save him too much.  Lose today and everyone will rest until next season.  Cobb's an obviously upside play -- with risk -- especially in PPR.  His presence makes WR Jarrett Boykin tough to use.

The Packers have activated WR Randall Cobb off IR, signaling that he'll play against the Bears on Sunday.  It's impossible to know how big his role will be or how much rust Cobb might carry into the game, but he's a high-upside PPR option.  His return renders WR Jarrett Boykin a bench player in pretty much any fantasy football league.

Packers RB Randall Cobb (leg) increased his practice participation this week and has a good chance to play against the Bears on Sunday.  The team plans on evaluating Cobb tomorrow afternoon before deciding whether to activate him from short-term IR.  If Cobb plays, it’ll be his first action since Week 6.  He’d almost certainly be on a snap count, leaving him as a risky fantasy option.

Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) has a "real chance" to play against the Bears on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Cobb reportedly responded well to last week's practices and was close to playing against the Steelers.  Cobb will almost certainly be on a snap count if he returns for this Sunday's must-win game, but he could still get a handful of touches.  He'll be a WR3 flier in fantasy if he suits up.

The Packers plan to increase WR Randall Cobb's practice reps this week.  "Randall is going to practice more," HC Mike McCarthy said Monday. "... We will up his practice reps on Thursday."  The Aaron Rodgers situation has showed us how conservative Green Bay's medical staff is, so we wouldn't consider Cobb a lock to be cleared for Sunday's must-win game against the Bears.  If he is, he'll almost certainly be on a snap count.

Packers WR Randall Cobb returned to practice on Wednesday but remains unlikely to play before the postseason, according to insider Paul Imig.  Cobb was just cleared to resume running last week and admits that he's still not full speed.  "It's kind of like re-teaching myself to run routes again," Cobb said. "I have to go back to working my running form and go back to working off cutting in different ways and different directions and doing different things. Just focusing in on those little-bitty details in my running."  Don't bother adding Cobb in redraft fantasy leagues.  Now is a good time to scoop him up if he was dropped in your keeper or dynasty league, though.

Packers WR Randall Cobb practiced on Wednesday for the 1st time since breaking his leg on October 13th.  He did "some" running in the portion of practice open the media, per insider Tom Silverstein.  We'll track Cobb's progress throughout the week, but we're betting against him playing this weekend.  And he'd almost certainly be on a snap count if he is active.  Cobb isn't a Week 16 fantasy option.

Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) still hadn't been medically cleared as of Tuesday.  HC Mike McCarthy said he's "progressing," but Cobb isn't going to be a fantasy factor this year.  Even if he was cleared today, he'd likely need at least a full week of practice before he was ready for game action.  And it'd be at least another week before he was ready for a full load of snaps.  Redraft owners still hanging on to Cobb should cut bait.

Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) has yet to be medically cleared, according to HC Mike McCarthy.  Cobb is eligible to return for Week 15, but there's no guarantee he'll be ready by then.  In fact, Cobb said a couple weeks ago that he might not play again this season.  It'll only be easier for Green Bay to hold him out if they fall further out of the playoff picture.  Cobb is only worth stashing in the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) is eligible to be activated from short-term IR in Week 15.  But he won't commit to being ready by then -- or at any point this season.  "I can’t make that call right now," Cobb said. "Right now, today, I cannot play. I’m doing everything I can. I’m working my butt off in the rehab process. This is something that it needs time. It’s getting better. There’s still no timeline on when I can come back."  Cobb is off crutches but doesn't seem close to being able to practice.  He also revealed that he didn't suffer a fractured fibula as previously reported.  “It wasn’t what it was," Cobb said.  "A broken bone, I don’t know about that,” he said. “But, hey, that was what the reports was, so it is what it is."

Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) has been placed on IR-designated-for-return.  He can't practice for the next 6 weeks and can't play in a game for 8.  It's disappointing news after yesterday's reported 4-8 week timetable, but the short end of that never seemed realistic for a broken leg.  Cobb won't be eligible to play until Week 15.  And even if he's back then, he'll be tough to trust in the fantasy playoffs.  Cobb is safe to drop in all but the deepest of redraft leagues and keeper/dynasty leagues.  Jarrett Boykin will step in as Green Bay's #3 WR with Cobb out.  He's worth rostering while we wait to see how big a role he'll play in the passing attack.

Packers insider Tyler Dunne has learned that WR Randall Cobb suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's win over the Ravens.  Dunne hears that Cobb will miss 6-8 weeks.  ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Cobb could be back in 4 weeks in a "best-case scenario."  The short end of that timetable would have Cobb back for a Week 11 game against the Giants.  The long end would sideline him until Week 15.  We'd recommend hanging on to the stud WR until we get a more definitive timetable.  But Cobb owners need to be making plans to be without him for the rest of fantasy football's regular season.  The loss puts a sizable dent in QB Aaron Rodgers' upside, but he remains a must-start in fantasy.  Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Jermichael Finley all figure to see a boost in targets.  Jarrett Boykin will step in as Green Bay's #3 WR and is worth rostering as a spot-start option.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy says WR Randall Cobb will miss "multiple weeks" with his knee injury.  McCarthy didn't provide any other details about the type or extent of the injury, but ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that Cobb is expected to miss 2 weeks.  That'd be extremely fortunate.  For now, Cobb needs to be stashed on fantasy benches.  Jordy Nelson and Jarrett Boykin are the only healthy WRs in Green Bay right now.  Nelson figures to dominate targets against the Browns this weekend.  Boykin's role -- and fantasy value -- will hinge on James Jones' status.  He's considered questionable for Week 7.
