The Seahawks expect to miss CB Brandon Browner for 4-6 weeks because of a groin injury he suffered Sunday against the Vikings.  At 9-1 and in control of the NFC's top playoff seed, Seattle can afford to be cautious with Browner.  Fortunately for fantasy owners, the Seahawks D has plenty of other talent to keep in among the top starting units the rest of the way.

Seahawks CB Brandon Browner suffered a groin injury in Sunday's win over Atlanta. HC Pete Carroll told 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle that Browner could be out "quite a while."  Browner's not much of an IDP option on his own, but his absence could hurt the Seattle pass D a bit.  At the least, it should make life a little easier for opponents' #2 WRs.  Walter Thurmond, the primary slot and nickel CB will start on the outside in Browner's absence.  He could deliver some fantasy sleeper value, with opponents perhaps more motivated to avoid CB Richard Sherman.

Seahawks MLB Bobby Wagner (ankle) is probable for Monday night's trip to St. Louis after missing the past 2 games.  He faces a bad fantasy matchup, though, and we can't help but worry about risk of tweaking the ankle.  We've added him to our Week 8 LB rankings, but not very high.  LB K.J. Wright figures to slide back to the weak side after filling in for Wagner in the middle.  OLB Malcolm Smith figures to return to a reserve role, though we'll be curious to see if a terrific Week 7 performance against Arizona shuffles the LB lineup at all.  Bruce Irvin's the strong-side starter after serving a 4-game PED suspension to open the season.

Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner will miss a 2nd straight game tonight because of his sprained ankle.  DE Chris Clemons, meanwhile, is questionable after putting in a limited practice Wednesday.  He suffered a hyperextended elbow in the Week 6 win over Tennessee.

Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Titans after missing all week with an ankle injury.  LB K.J. Wright will slide in from the outside to start in Wagner's place.  Wagner's absence adds tackle upside to Wright, who can also provide a pass-rush threat at times.  Check out our updated LB rankings to see where the fill-in sits.

Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner came out of Week 5 with an ankle injury that kept him out of practice on Wednesday.  According to the Seattle Times, HC Pete Carroll said Wagner expects to be ready for Sunday's game.  But he's no sure thing.  If Wagner can't go, OLB K.J. Wright will slide into the middle as he did at the beginning of his rookie season when David Hawthorne was hurt.  Wagner has disappointed IDP owners so far and should be out of most fantasy football lineups even if he's active.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll confirmed Friday that he expects CB Brandon Browner and DE Chris Clemons to be ready for Sunday's clash with Jacksonville.  It'll be Clemons' 1st time on the field since he suffered an ACL tear in the January playoff win at Washington.  Browner missed the 1st 2 weeks with a hamstring injury.  Seattle, of course, probably could dominate the Jaguars even without these reinforcements.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Seahawks LT Russell Okung suffered a torn toe ligament in Sunday night's victory over the Niners and will likely miss at least 1 game.  San Francisco LB Aldon Smith tallied both of his sacks after Okung left in the 1st quarter Sunday night.  Fortunately for Seattle, though, Jacksonville mounts 1 of the league's worst pass rushes.  Don't expect Okung's absence to significantly alter QB Russell Wilson's Week 3 fantasy football projection.  It could be a bigger issue in a Week 4 matchup with Houston, though.  We'll see how soon Okung can return.

Seahawks DE Cliff Avril will play Sunday night for the 1st time with his new team.  He missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury that cost him most of training camp.  “Cliff looks good,” Carroll told ESPN.com. “He had a great week. He’s full-speed. He could have played last week, but now he’s had time getting all the reps in and he’s ready to go.”  It's not clear whether Avril will start, but that probably doesn't matter.  Seattle rotated its entire D-line heavily last week and figures to do the same against the Niners.  You shouldn't consider Avril for your IDP lineup until he at least faces a more positive matchup.  DE Chris Clemons, meanwhile, looks more likely to return for Week 3.  The Seahawks listed him as questionable, but Carroll indicated they'll probably wait another week before bringing him back from the January ACL tear.

Seahawks CB Brandon Browner is doubtful for Sunday's matchup with the Niners.  It would be the 2nd straight game he'd miss with a hamstring injury.  Seattle still limited Cam Newton to a career-low passing total without Browner in Week 1, but it would obviously be better to have the D at full strength vs. Colin Kaepernick in Week 2.

The Seahawks expect to get starting CB Brandon Browner and DE Cliff Avril back for Week 2.  Avril took part in limited practice Wednesday after missing Week 1 with a hamstring injury.  HC Pete Carroll expects Browner to return to the field Thursday after surprisingly missing the opener with his own hamstring injury.  Seattle could also get DE Chris Clemons back for Sunday's clash with the Niners.  Clemons practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.  He's been out since suffering an ACL tear in January.  Any of these 3 returns would certainly help the Seahawks' team defense.

As expected, Seahawks DE Cliff Avril will miss today's matchup with the Panthers.  Seattle will also miss CB Brandon Browner.  Both are dealing with hamstring injuries, and each absence hurts the team D.  If you drafted the Seahawks, you probably need to stick with them as your Week 1 starter.  But Panthers QB Cam Newton presents a dangerous matchup.  Newton, meanwhile, gets a better fantasy football matchup thanks to those injuries.

Seahawks DE Cliff Avril is doubtful for Sunday's opener at Carolina because of a hamstring injury that plagued him through much of training camp.  Seattle will also miss DE Chris Clemons, who's still working back from his January ACL tear, and 2nd-year man Bruce Irvin during his 4-game suspension.  Altogether, the absences might make it hard for the Seahawks to collapse QB Cam Newton's pocket.  If you drafted their D in fantasy, you pretty much have to start them and hope that the secondary and the run defense lock down the Panthers.  The myriad injuries and Irvin suspension were the main reasons we didn't project Seattle's D for the top spot in our preseason rankings.

Despite the acquisition of WR Percy Harvin, the Seahawks have no intentions of moving away from their run-first offense.  "We're gonna do exactly what we wanna do with continuing to send the message about how physical we are, how we attack with the running game and fit off that," HC Pete Carroll said. "This is not a change at all."  Now, Seattle finished 2012 dead-last in pass attempts and 1st in rushes.  They'll certainly throw it more in 2013 with Harvin and an improving QB.  Marshawn Lynch is unlikely to match the 19.7 carries per game he averaged last year.  But he'll remain plenty busy.  And the addition of Harvin should increase Lynch's scoring opportunities.  We still like him as a top-10 fantasy RB.

Seahawks CBs Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner will play against the Bears on Sunday.  The appeal of their 4-game suspensions won't be ruled on before the weekend.  Tough break for QB Jay Cutler and WR Brandon Marshall.  The former will be just a QB2.  The latter remains a must-start.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that both Seattle starting CBs face potential 4-game league suspensions for PED violations. Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner are reportedly appealing the rulings, swearing that they are innocent. We've heard that one before. We'll wait to see what happens with the appeals, but even players who have unknowingly consumed banned substances don't tend to go unpunished. Sherman and Browner make up one of the league's best CB tandems -- perhaps THE best in the NFL. Losing both for any number of games. Enough to significantly impact the fantasy standing of the team D? Let's see what matchups might be involved.
