There's been a consistent buzz on Rams TE Tyler Higbee over the past couple of weeks. "Expect big things from Tyler," GM Les Snead said from the Combine. HC Sean McVay is excited to work with the 2nd-year TE. "Nice catch radius," McVay said. "He can stretch the seam; he's got a good feel and savvy in the pass game." McVay arrives from Washington, where Redskins TEs ranked 5th in targets (289), 5th in receiving yards (2,397) and tied for 3rd in TDs (20) over the past 2 seasons. Higbee is no Jordan Reed, but he is a 6'6, 249-pounder with plus athleticism. And there's lots of target upside with TE Lance Kendricks gone and a WR corps led by Robert Woods and Tavon Austin.

The Rams released TE Lance Kendricks late Thursday night. Kendricks had spent all 6 of his NFL seasons with the team, totaling 204 catches and 17 TDs while averaging a pedestrian 10.5 yards per catch career. His departure clears the way for 2016 rookie Tyler Higbee to take over the lead TE spot for the Rams. Higbee averaged 15.5 yards per reception over his college career and caught 12 TDs over his final 2 seasons.

Rams TE Tyler Higbee is QB Jared Goff's "on-field BFF," according to NFL.com's Steve Wyche. (That's "best friend forever" for those of you without young daughters.) The rookies are also training-camp roommates and hooked up 3 times for 35 yards in the preseason opener. Higbee has been getting 1st-team reps in training camp and is talented enough to push TE Lance Kendricks for the lead pass-catching role. He's not quite a redraft option yet, but try to get your hands on Higbee in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Rams TE Tyler Higbee is already getting 1st-team reps in training camp, according to the Los Angeles Daily News' Vinny Bonsignore. "The skill-set is there to be a match-up nightmare for smaller linebackers and safeties," Bonsignore adds. Higbee dropped to the 4th round of this spring's draft because of an assault arrest but was considered a 2nd-round talent by some. His competition for the starting TE spot is the mediocre Lance Kendricks. Higbee isn't worth a roster spot in redraft leagues just yet, but we're keeping a close eye on him.

Rams 4th-round pick TE Tyler Higbee will be arraigned Thursday in Kentucky, according to USA Today. Higbee faces 2nd-degree assault, 2nd-degree evading police and public intoxication charges stemming from an April 10 incident, all of which his lawyer says he'll plead not guilty to. Merely being charged could make Higbee eligible for NFL discipline. We'll see how this situation plays out. The Rams drafted him despite the pending charges, so the case shouldn't affect his long-term outlook -- barring prison time.

The Rams nabbed TE Tyler Higbee in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Western Kentucky product is 1 of the highest-ceiling pass-catching TEs in the class. He goes 6’6, 249 pounds with WR-like athleticism, averaging 15.5 yards per catch over 4 college seasons. Higbee struggled with injuries and was charged with assault earlier this month, so there are questions that need to be answered. But he certainly has the potential to emerge as a big part of Los Angeles’ Jared Goff-led passing attack.
