A grand jury did not find enough evidence to criminally charge QB Deshaun Watson in relation to the sexual assault allegations levied against him. Watson is still facing civil suits, but this development would seemingly make it easier for teams to justify trading for him. "Expect his trade market to ramp up quickly," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweets. "Teams have been waiting. This clears the path for a deal by the start of the league year [on March 16]."
Browns QB Deshaun Watson has proposed an 8-game suspension and $5 million fine, according to the Associated Press. The league has reportedly been pushing for a full-season ban. It's unclear if the sides are in settlement talks. We'll continue to keep you updated on the situation and will hopefully have a final outcome soon.
The Browns announced this week that QB Deshaun Watson will start Friday night's exhibition opener against the Jaguars. The pending status of his suspension has no bearing here, since that will apply to regular-season games.
Insider Albert Breer's "guess" is that the NFL's appeal of Deshaun Watson's suspension will result in a 10- or 12-game suspension. "I think it’s fair to guess that [Peter C.] Harvey will extend [the suspension]," Breer writes. "I don’t think the league would go to the trouble of filing the appeal if there weren’t real plans to extend the suspension." Breer believes we'll get a decision from Harvey by August 19.
Per multiple reports, the NFL is appealing Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s 6-game suspension. Roger Goodell will determine who’ll hear the appeal. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: According to insider Jeff Darlington, the league is "appealing for an indefinite suspension that would be a minimum of one year."
The NFL -- via Judge Sue Robinson -- has suspended Browns QB Deshaun Watson for the 1st 6 games of the season for violating the personal-conduct policy. The NFLPA has said it would not challenge her ruling. The league has 3 days to file an appeal. This is obviously a positive outcome for the fantasy football outlook of Watson and the Browns offense. Expect Jacoby Brissett to start the 1st 6 contests.
