Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with his thumb injury, ESPN's Todd Archer reports. Prescott is meeting with a hand specialist on Monday, but the expectation is that he'll need a pin and plate inserted to stabilize his fractured joint. The short end of that 6-8 week timetable would have Prescott back for Week 8. But Dallas has a Week 9 bye, so Week 10 might be the most likely return date for Dak. His absence is obviously a big blow to all of the Cowboys' skill-position players. Prescott is cuttable in fantasy leagues without an IR spot.

WR Brandin Cooks snagged a 31-yard TD among his 4 receptions for 72 yards on 5 targets. The other two scores went to KaVontae Turpin from 34 yards out and RB Rico Dowdle on a 15-yard catch-and-run. The soft opponent certainly helped, but Prescott has now gone over 300 yards with 3+ TDs in four of his past five games. And his remaining schedule ranks third-best for QB scoring, with no truly worrisome spots. Prescott just might prove to be a league winner for 2023.

Sunday’s performance is also notable as it marks the first time that the veteran signal-caller has thrown for over 400 yards in a game since 2021 Week 6. There’s good reason for fantasy managers to expect continued success from him moving forward as the Cowboys’ remaining schedule ranks fourth-easiest for QBs per our adjusted fantasy points allowed.

That makes two straight games of 300+ yards and 3+ TD passes for Prescott coming out of the bye. Week 10 holds a Giants defense that has been fifth-toughest on QB scoring by our adjusted fantasy points allowed. But the Giants also allowed an Aidan O'Connell led Raiders offense to tally 334 yards and 30 points Sunday. Expect to find Prescott comfortably inside starter territory in our Week 10 QB rankings.

The veteran also added some value with his legs in Week 6, tallying 40 rushing yards (including an 18-yard TD run) on 7 carries. Prescott’s 24.8 fantasy points were enough for him to finish as the QB1 overall on the week. Dallas will head into their bye in Week 7, but this is certainly a great way to leave off after a dreadful showing in primetime last week vs. the 49ers.
