Shark Bites

Panthers RB D'Onta Foreman racked up 165 yards and a TD on 21 carries in Saturday's whipping of the Lions. RB Chuba Hubbard added 125 yards on 12 carries, and even RB Raheem Blackshear scored among his 3 carries. Carolina gets a rematch with Tampa Bay in week 17. Foreman and Hubbard combined for 181 yards on 24 carries in the 1st meeting. It'll still be tough to trust either member of this inconsistent backfield inside the top 24, but the upside is clear.

Recent Shark Bites

The Bears signed RB D'Onta Foreman to a 1-year, $3 million deal. Foreman is coming off a nice season in Carolina, posting a career-high 914 rushing yards on 4.5 yards per carry. He ranked 26th among 42 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' rushing grades and 21st in Elusive Rating. New backfield mate Khalil Herbert beat Foreman in both metrics, finishing 25th and 6th. We'll consider Herbert the favorite to lead Chicago's David Montgomery-less backfield in carries for now but will keep a close eye on the backfield all offseason. It's worth noting that neither Herbert nor Foreman have much pass-catching production on their resumes. The Bears also have change-of-pace types Travis Homer and Trestan Ebner on the RB depth chart. There's a chance this is a 3-man committee backfield in 2023.

Panthers RB D'Onta Foreman (knee) is active for today's game vs. the Saints. He was added to the injury report on Friday and listed as questionable but is evidently healthy enough to play in this meaningless game.

The Panthers totaled just 21 rushing yards on 16 carries (1.3 per rush) in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. RB D'Onta Foreman managed just 9 yards on 10 carries, with Chuba Hubbard rushing 4 times for 10 yards. Hubbard made up for it 57 yards on 3 receptions. A 45-yard catch-and-run powered that. Carolina RBs shouldn't factor heavily into your plans vs. Detroit or Tampa Bay the next 2 weeks.

Panthers RB D'Onta Foreman carried 21 times for 74 yards in Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He watched RBs Chuba Hubbard and Raheem Blackshear claim the team's 2 rushing scores, though. Carolina went run-heavy in a game that saw them score the 1st 17 points and never trail. Hubbard finished with a. 14-74-1 rushing line and led the backfield with 3 catches for 25 yards on 3 targets. Blackshear logged 4 carries for 32 yards and 1 catch for 17 yards (on 1 target). Foreman still led the group in playing time but loses some floor if half the work is going elsewhere. Unfortunately for the Panthers, no remaining matchup is nearly as good for RB scoring as Seattle was.

Panthers RB D'Onta Foreman (foot) is not listed on the final injury report for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks. He went from no practice on Wednesday to limited participation on Thursday to a full practice on Friday. So he should be ready for his usual workload on Sunday. Foreman has been a volatile fantasy producer since the Christian McCaffrey trade, but this is a plus matchup against Seattle's 29th-ranked RB defense.
