Commanders RB Antonio Gibson had surgery on Thursday to repair a fractured foot, HC Ron Rivera said. Gibson was on the injury report with a foot from Week 13 on, although it's unclear exactly when the fracture occurred. Rivera said the "hope" is that Gibson will be ready for the start of offseason workouts. We'll track his rehab.
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (knee, foot) has been placed on IR, knocking him out for Sunday's finale vs. the Cowboys. Gibson had a few solid fantasy outings this season but was generally disappointing, finishing with 546 rushing yards and 3 TDs on 3.7 yards per carry and a 46-353-2 receiving line. He sits 30th among RBs in PPR points per game. Gibson turns 25 in June and is signed with Washington for 1 more season. He looks like no better than a RB3 in early 2023 fantasy drafts.
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (knee, foot) didn't participate in practice on Wednesday. Fellow RB Brian Robinson (knee) also sat out. Hopefully, the pair can get back into action soon. Be sure to check back tomorrow regarding their health ahead of Week 18 vs. the Cowboys.
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (foot, knee) has been ruled out for Week 17 vs. the Browns. Rookie RB Brian Robinson is set to step up and assume another big workload. Robinson is averaging 18.3 carries over his last 4 games. Moreover, the Browns rank 26th in Football Outsiders' run defense DVOA over the last 5 weeks in addition to being the 3rd-best matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs on the season. Fire up Robinson with confidence as a high-end RB2 candidate.
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (knee, ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Browns. That obviously doesn't hurt RB Brian Robinson's Week 17 fantasy profile, but it's worth noting that RB Jonathan Williams stepped into the passing-down role with Gibson banged up late in last week's loss to the 49ers. Robinson still doesn't project for big passing-game usage this weekend -- but he's a strong fantasy play based on his rushing upside against a bad Cleveland run defense.
Commanders RB Antonio Gibson (foot/knee) did not practice, and RB Brian Robinson (quad) logged full participation on Thursday. It seems fantasy managers should be prepared to be without Gibson for the fantasy championship round. We'll check in again tomorrow in case something changes. Should Robinson see the backfield to himself, he is best considered a high-end RB2 candidate vs. the Browns in Week 17.
