Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's Wild Card win vs. the Vikings. The fourth-year QB also led the team in rushing, tallying 78 yards on 17 carries on the ground. This remarkable performance from Jones will be worth keeping in the back of fantasy managers' minds when filling out DFS lineups moving forward in this NFL postseason. Jones is building a strong case for a sizeable contract as he approaches free agency.
Giants QB Daniel Jones not surprisingly struggled vs. the 49ers on Thursday night. He completed 22 of 32 passes (68.8%) but totaled just 137 yards (4.3 yards per attempt) with 0 TDs and one INT. New York got nothing going downfield (where's Jalin Hyatt?). And Jones didn't get much help from his pass-catchers. TE Darren Waller was particularly bad, dropping at least two passes, including one that resulted in Jones' INT. It was also disappointing to see Jones finish with just five yards on two carries. It was a massive fantasy dud -- but hopefully you weren't counting on Jones against this elite 49ers defense. He has much more doable matchups the next two weeks vs. the Seahawks and Dolphins.
Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 26 of 37 attempts for 321 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT in Week 2’s comeback victory vs. the Cardinals. He also added 59 yards on 9 carries with a rushing TD in the contest. It’s concerning that New York found themselves down 20-0 at halftime against a Cardinals team that’s broadly considered to be the worst in the NFL. Even so, the offense found life and pulled out the victory over the final two quarters. On top of the real-life success, Jones delivered a significantly better performance (30.7 points) that may see him finish as the QB1 for the week. He’ll have a tough test in Week 3 as the Giants travel on the road to face the 49ers.
Giants QB Daniel Jones completed 15 of 28 attempts for 104 yards and 2 INTs in a blowout loss vs. the Cowboys. He also added 43 yards on 13 carries in Week 1, though Jones’ efforts were far from enough for the team to avoid an embarrassing divisional loss at home on Sunday night. Rainy weather certainly impacted conditions. However, that didn’t stop their opponent from running up the score to 26-0 by halftime, so there’s not much of an excuse to be made as far as that goes. Jones will have an opportunity to rebound in Week 2 vs. the Cardinals.
The Athletic's Dan Duggan writes that Giants QB Daniel Jones “looks so much more comfortable” in the offense compared to last summer. It’s understandable, as he enters Year 2 alongside HC Brian Daboll and OC Mike Kafka. New TE Darren Waller is drawing rave reviews for his work in training camp, too. As the QB14 in ADP, Jones looks like a fine draft day target.
NFL analyst Greg Cosell believes Giants QB Daniel Jones will improve in 2023. “He throws a good ball… He’s big, and he’s physical. I’m expecting him to take another step forward,” Cosell said on the Inside the Birds podcast. “I’ve heard really good things about how smart he is, how he works at it. You have to believe he’s going to take another step within the context of the [HC] Brian Daboll/[OC] Mike Kafka offense.” It’s a reminder that Jones, only 26, can reach higher ceiling. Led by TE Darren Waller, an improved set of weapons only adds to Jones’ 2023 fantasy value. You’ll find him among the top-15 of our QB rankings.
