Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown has expressed his desire this offseason to be utilized more as a deep threat in the passing game in 2023. Lions WR coach Antwaan Randle El shared that he "has seen subtle growth" from St. Brown in OTAs and minicamps that can help him achieve that goal. The former fourth-round pick finished 2022 as the WR7 overall with 16.8 PPR points per game last season, leading the Lions in targets (145), target share (27.8%), and Weighted Opportunity Rating (0.57) while finishing 2nd on the team in air yards share (25.8%). The tricky part is we haven't seen St. Brown used much as a deep threat in his career so far. According to PFF, only 9 of his targets last year were measured at 20+ yards downfield, and St. Brown's career average depth of target (aDOT) is 6.8. Such a shift in usage would be a big change, though St. Brown did register a 10.6 career aDOT across three seasons in college at USC. Whether he becomes a deep shot receiver or not, we're bullish about St. Brown entering the 2023 season. Check out where he sits in our current WR rankings.
The Lions and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown have agreed to a 4-year extension worth "more than" $120 million with $77 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It makes St. Brown the NFL's highest-paid WR (at least for now). The 2021 fourth-rounder has steadily ascended to become one of the league's best WRs. He's improved his catches, receiving yards, receiving TDs, yards per target, and yards per route in each season. His 119-1,515-10 line last year made him the WR3 in PPR points. St. Brown sits fourth in our current dynasty WR rankings.
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown tallied 6 catches for 90 receiving yards and a TD in Week 17 vs. the Cowboys. Saturday’s contest marks the tenth game this season in which the third-year wideout cleared at least 90 yards in a game. For context, St. Brown had only recorded four such games in each of his prior two seasons (eight in total). He ends the 2023 fantasy season with a career-high average of 20.2 PPR points per game and has given managers no reason to question his standing as a top-tier dynasty asset entering the new year. See where he lands among fellow wideouts in our current dynasty rankings.
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown hauled 6 of 9 targets for a team-high 109 receiving yards in Week 8’s win vs. the Raiders. Monday night’s effort marks the third game in a row that St. Brown has exceeded 100 receiving yards and the fifth time overall this season. As dominant as he was, it was rookie TE Sam LaPorta who led the Lions with 10 targets in the contest. The first-year pass-catcher concluded the game with 8 catches for 57 yards and a TD. Unfortunately, fantasy managers will be without these superstars next week. The Lions will return from their bye in Week 10 to take on the Chargers.
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (illness) is active for tonight's game vs. the Raiders. He was added to the injury report on Sunday, but there's been nothing to suggest that he'll be impacted tonight.
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown is now questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Raiders with an illness. We'll look for more details but would consider this unlikely to keep St. Brown out of tomorrow's game.
