The Chiefs’ offense now leads the NFL in drops (23) and has failed to score a TD in the second half of a game for three games in a row. In that span, Mahomes is averaging just 200.7 passing yards per game with a 74.2 passer rating, well below his career average of 100.1. His path doesn’t get any easier down the stretch either. The Chiefs’ remaining schedule ranks as the fifth-toughest for QBs per our adjusted fantasy points allowed. Mahomes' prolific talent and track record of success will keep him ranked as a QB1 weekly, though there is reason for fantasy managers to be at least slightly concerned about him.

The star QB reportedly battled the flu, and he certainly didn’t look close to 100% in this one. Look for a bounce-back in Week 9 vs. Miami.

It was Mahomes' largest yardage total since Week 9 of last season and 118 more yards than his previous high for this season. It was also Mahomes' third straight game with 40+ pass attempts, despite Kansas City leading for the entire second half. Mahomes did most of his damage before the break, throwing for 321 yards and 3 TDs in the first half. Mahomes benefited from facing a Chargers D that has been the season's best scoring matchup for QBs. But he also gets three more strongly positive scoring matchups in his next three games.
