Seahawks QB Geno Smith ripped the Cowboys for 334 yards and three TDs on Thursday night. Smith got rolling on his very first drive, threading a pass between two Dallas defenders to WR D.K. Metcalf, who took off for a 73-yard score. Smith's other two TDs also went to Metcalf, from one and three yards out. He added a five-yard rushing TD for a truly monstrous fantasy outing. The 334 passing yards were Smith's second-most of the season -- and the most by a Cowboys opponent this year. It was also Smith's first game of the season with more than two passing scores. The big game came when Smith, Metcalf, and WR Tyler Lockett were finally all off the injury report. If those guys can stay healthy the rest of the way, there should be plenty of fantasy goodness to be had. Week 14 brings a rematch against a tough 49ers defense. But that's followed by plus matchups against the Eagles and Titans. Smith closes the fantasy ceiling against the Steelers' eighth-ranked QB defense.
Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald stopped short of committing to QB Geno Smith as the 2024 starter in a Friday radio appearance. "We're always looking, always trying to figure out what’s best for the team all the time," Macdonald said. "I'm excited for Geno to come in here and start playing and start working. ... I don't want you to feel like I'm dodging this answer, but that's what I'm excited about, for him to come in here and start to build this team the way we envision building it." It's a rather cookie-cutter, coachspeak answer for early March -- but worth noting nonetheless. Smith is under contract for 2024 at a $26.4 million cap hit, and the Seahawks don't currently pick until 16th overall in this spring's draft. They'd likely need to trade up to land one of the top four QBs in the class. It's still more likely than not that Smith is under center for Seattle come Week 1, but don't consider him locked in at this point.
Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report. He’s ready to go for Sunday’s game against a banged-up Titans defense. Smith checks in 12th in the Week 16 QB Rankings.
Seahawks QB Geno Smith (groin) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That puts him on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Titans' 15th-ranked QB defense. See where Smith sits in the Week 16 QB Rankings.
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Tuesday that he expects QB Geno Smith (groin) to have a full week of practice and play vs. the Titans on Sunday. Smith appeared on track to return for Monday night's game vs. the Eagles but suffered a setback during the week. So he's not a lock to be out there this weekend. But we are projecting it to be Smith under center for the Seahawks in Nashville.
Both ESPN's Brady Henderson and Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski report that Seahawks QB Geno Smith is not on the field for final warmups. Kempski says "full rosters for both teams" are on the field (without Smith). Henderson says only Drew Lock and Sean Mannion are warming up at QB for Seattle. It sounds like Smith won't quite be ready, though that hasn't been made official yet. We'll keep watching for official word.
