Seahawks QB Geno Smith posted another strong fantasy line in Monday night's loss to the Lions. Even with just 1 TD pass, he finished QB5 for the week (depending on your scoring) by throwing for 395 yards on 38-of-56 passing and rushing for 38 yards. Smith now sits sixth among QBs in fantasy points through four weeks.
Smith leads the league in:
He trails only Jayden Daniels in completion rate. But he sits just 27th in TD rate (2.5%), which leaves Smith tied for a mere 17th in TD passes.
If you assigned him the league-median 4% TD rate so far this season, Smith would be sitting fourth among fantasy QBs.
We expected a pass-leaning offense under new OC Ryan Grubb, and with one of the league's best WR groups. Seattle is delivering on that, and Smith's efficiency isn't out of line with previous performance.
He led the league in completion rate in 2022, his first turn as a full-time starter since 2014 with the Jets.
Smith appeared to backslide in 2023. But even then, he finished seventh in adjusted completion rate and 12th in passing grade, according to Pro Football Focus.
Expect Smith to remain on the weekly fantasy-starter radar going forward, beginning with home dates against the Giants and 49ers the next two weeks.
