Niners RB Jordan Mason left in the first half of Sunday night's game after re-injuring his shoulder and did not return. RB Isaac Guerendo took advantage, rushing 14 times for 85 yards and a TD. The rookie also added 3 receptions for 17 yards among 4 targets.
Guerendo started hot, gaining 15+ yards on three of his first four rushing attempts. His score came from 4 yards out early in the second half.
The opportunity and production was poorly timed for his fantasy outlook, though.
San Francisco gets a Week 9 bye. That gives Mason extra time to heal before a Week 10 visit to Tampa Bay. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also confirmed Monday morning that Christian McCaffrey still appears on track for a Week 10 return.
Guerendo remains worth stashing at least until we officially get McCaffrey back. But the rookie will be cuttable in many fantasy leagues once McCaffrey and Mason are healthy.
