Seahawks GM John Schneider said some of the team's coaches believe that TE Elijah Arroyo could play 'X' receiver. "Full route tree. Super explosive," Schneider said of the rookie. "If he didn't miss time [in college,] his talent is like a Top 15 pick. This guy is special."
What They're Saying
HC Mike Macdonald: "Eljiah Arroyo can run an extensive route tree. He can split out wide and do 'X' receiver-type things. Bigger body, provides a ton of value. And then he’s gonna go in there as an actual in-line TE and create some of those bigger personnel formations. That’s the vision we have for him."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Seahawks selected Arroyo with the 50th overall pick of the draft and are clearly excited about his pass-catching upside. A torn ACL ruined Arroyo's 2022 and 2023 seasons. But he returned last year to tally a 35-590-7 line. He averaged a huge 16.9 yards per catch, including an FBS-high 8.9 yards after the catch per reception.
Arroyo ran 57% of his routes from the slot or out wide last season — and it sounds like the Seahawks envision him in a similar role. That's exciting for his fantasy upside.
Arroyo will need to pass veteran TE Noah Fant on the depth chart to have a shot at 2025 fantasy value. But Fant is set to hit free agency next offseason, giving Arroyo a clear runway to a starting job.
