What to Like (and Dislike) About Jaylin Noel's Week 8

Texans rookie WR Jaylin Noel enjoyed a second straight positive outing Sunday, snagging 5 receptions for 63 yards in the win over the 49ers. Noel tied for the team lead in catches, trailed Xavier Hutchinson's yardage lead by just 6, and tied for second on the team in targets (six). But he also continued to share a frustrating amount of work with veteran WR Braxton Berrios.

Nico Collins & Christian Kirk Out For Week 8

Texans WRs Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) are out for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. Neither guy practiced all week. Collins should have a good chance to make it back for Week 9, but Kirk could miss more time. Their absences this week leave Houston with WRs Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, and Braxtos Berrios. Higgins and Noel land in WR4 territory in the Week 8 rankings.

Nico Collins & Christian Kirk Out Wednesday

Texans WR Nico Collins (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He was concussed just two days ago and remains a long shot to be cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. WR Christian Kirk (hamstring) was also sidelined on Wednesday and looks unlikely to play this weekend. That'll leave Houston with Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, and Braxton Berrios atop the WR depth chart. Rookies Higgins and Noel are worth stashing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams but would be tough to trust in Week 8 lineups.

Dalton Schultz Takes Advantage of Decimated WR Corps

The Texans opened Monday night's game at Seattle without No. 2 WR Christian Kirk (hamstring injury). They lost WR Nico Collins to a fourth-quarter concussion. And they completed just six passes for the game to WRs not named Collins ... among 49 total pass attempts. TE Dalton Schultz took advantage of the situation, matching Collins' team lead in targets (10) and easily leading all Texans with 9 receptions and 98 yards in the loss.

Christian Kirk On Track For Week 3 Return

Texans HC Demeco Ryans said Tuesday that WRs Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios are "progressing very well" and are expected back for this weekend's game against the Jaguars. Both guys have missed the first two games of the season with hamstring injuries. Kirk was in line to open the year as Houston's No. 2 WR and will probably take over that spot soon considering the team has been slow-playing rookie WRs Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel. Kirk is worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams, although we wouldn't want to trust him in Week 3 fantasy lineups.

        Malik Washington Out For Opener

Dolphins WR Malik Washington (quad) is out for Sunday’s opener vs. the Jaguars. The rookie went from limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday to no practice on Friday. With WR Odell Beckham on the PUP list, Miami is woefully thin at WR entering Week 1. Braxton Berrios will be the No. 3 WR on Sunday. Grant DuBose is currently the only other WR on the roster besides Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. RB De’Von Achane and TE Jonnu Smith could be big parts of the passing game this weekend.

        Braxton Berrios active

Dolphins WR Braxton Berrios (hamstring) is active for this morning's game vs. the Chiefs. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and then limited in Friday's practice. But Berrios is evidently healthy enough to give it a go today. He’s only an option in one-game DFS contests.

Braxton Berrios questionable for Week 9

Dolphins WR Braxton Berrios (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday morning's game vs. the Chiefs. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and then limited in Friday's practice. Berrios has averaged 3.1 targets per game as Miami's No. 3 WR this year, so his absence would have a minimal fantasy impact.

Jaylen Waddle ruled out for Week 3

Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He had been listed as questionable after returning to a limited practice on Friday, so Waddle is trending toward a Week 4 return. It'll be WRs Braxton Berrios, River Cracraft, Erik Ezukanma, Cedrick Wilson, and Robbie Chosen behind target-hog Tyreek Hill against Denver tomorrow.

Braxton Berrios ticketed for the slot

Dolphins beat writer Chris Perkins believes WR Braxton Berrios “will almost certainly” be the starting slot receiver. Berrios inked a one-year deal with $3 million guaranteed early in free agency. While he brings value as a returner, the 27-year-old totaled just 18 catches (in 17 games) last year with the Jets. Berrios also brings the speed (4.44 forty-time) that HC Mike McDaniel covets. He’ll be on the DFS/deep league spot-start radar if one of Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle miss time.

        Chosen chooses Dolphins

The Dolphins signed WR Chosen "the-artist-formerly-known-as-Robbie" Anderson. A valuable deep threat early in his career, Anderson has been one of the least efficient WRs in the NFL over the past 2 seasons. He ranked 97th among 101 qualifiers in yards per route run with the Panthers in 2021, and then finished 94th out of 96 last year in Carolina and then Arizona. In Miami, Anderson will duke it out with WRs Braxton Berrios and Cedrick Wilson for action behind target hogs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. You can continue to ignore Anderson in early best-ball drafts.

Davis leads Jets wideouts in Week 1 targets

Corey Davis led Jets wideouts in targets in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Davis tallied 9 in a game that found QB Joe Flacco spread 59 attempts around pretty evenly. Only rookie RB Breece Hall (10) beat Davis, while RB Michael Carter tied the veteran WR. Rookie WR Garrett Wilson drew 8 looks, with 7 going to WR Elijah Moore and 6 to WR Braxton Berrios. TE Tyler Conklin garnered 7 of 8 TE targets, with the other going to Lawrence Cager. Davis tied for 2nd among Jets with 6 receptions and led the team with 77 receiving yards. Only 1 other Jet reached 50 yards, and no one else exceeded 52.

        Berrios re-signing with Jets

EPSN's Adam Schefter reports that WR Braxton Berrios is resigning with the Jets for $12 million over 2 years, with $7 million of that guaranteed. It's $4 million more than WR Isaiah McKenzie is getting from the Bills -- for whatever that's worth -- but it's not a great spot for Berrios' upside. Corey Davis and Elijah Moore figure to stand ahead of him in target distribution. Berrios' return should confirm that Jamison Crowder is moving on in free agency. Berrios isn't worth attention in any fantasy football drafts other than deep PPR formats.

        Jets want Berrios back

The Jets “really want to re-sign” WR Braxton Berrios, per beat writer Rich Cimini. Berrios, 26, came on strong late in the year, catching 5+ balls in 3 of his final 4 games. He even earned an All-Pro nod for his kick return performance. If the Jets bring back Berrios and move on from Jamison Crowder -- another free agent -- it’s possible the former carries some sleeper value into summer drafts. Of course, a lot will ride on the development of Zach Wilson -- 1 of Pro Football Focus' lowest graded passers of 2021.

Berrios doubtful, Crowder back for Week 18

Jets WR Braxton Berrios (quad) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Bills after missing practice all week. WR Jamison Crowder (calf) practiced all 3 days, including a full workout on Friday, and isn't listed on the final injury report. Crowder will be back as the Jets' primary slot receiver on Sunday and is a lower-end option in PPR leagues.
