The Dolphins are sending WR Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Miami will also send the 11th pick of Round 4 in this year's draft, while getting back first-, third-, and fourth-round picks this year. Each of the picks Denver's sending sits 30th in that round. Waddle spent his first five seasons with the Dolphins after arriving as the sixth-overall pick in 2021. He set a then-record for a rookie with 104 receptions in 2021 and topped out at 1,356 receiving yards in Year 2.
The Dolphins are signing QB Malik Willis to a 3-year, $67.5 million deal with $45 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Willis' $22.5 million average annual salary ranks 21st among QBs. It's a reasonable deal for an unproven player who carries a wide range of outcomes.
The Dolphins announced that they will release QB Tua Tagovailoa at the start of the new league year this week. The move will cost Miami an NFL-record $99 million in dead money, split over this season and next. The Fins are hitting the 'reset' button under new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and HC Jeff Hafley, cutting Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill, among others, this offseason.
It seemed immediately after Week 18 that Miami would proceed with HC Mike McDaniel in place. But that changed Thursday when the team fired him. That move follows the in-season ouster of GM Chris Grier. McDaniel spent the past four years at the Dolphins helm after one year as 49ers OC and four others as run-game coordinator.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ribs) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Patriots. Miami’s WR corps for this one: Malik Washington, Theo Wease, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Cedrick Wilson, and Tahj Washington. TE Greg Dulcich has a chance to lead the team in targets today.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ribs) is not expected to play vs. the Patriots today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. RB De'Von Achane (shoulder), who's listed as doubtful, is also expected to miss. And TE Darren Waller (groin) has already been ruled out. Expect a run-centric game plan for at least however long the Fins can keep this one close. WR Malik Washington and TE Greg Dulcich are the team's best target bets.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ribs) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. We're expecting Waddle to suit up on Sunday, but the rib injury and a meaningless game for Miami adds obvious risk to his fantasy profile. He finished catch-less on a 26% snap rate last week.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ribs) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That should have him on track to play vs. the Patriots this weekend, but we'll see how Waddle is listed on Friday's final injury report.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday. He played very little in the second half of last week's game vs. the Buccaneers and is uncertain for Sunday's finale vs. the Patriots. We'll update Waddle's status again tomorrow.
Dolphins QB Quinn Ewers played a clean game in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay, throwing for 172 yards and 2 TDs. The bulk of his production came on a 63-yard deep ball to UDFA rookie WR Theo Wease Jr.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle suffered a rib injury in the first half of Sunday's game vs. the Buccaneers and is officially questionable to return. We'll update his status when we know more.
Update: Waddle returned for the second half but appeared to play sparingly. He finished catch-less on one target.
The Dolphins mustered just six points in Thursday night's loss to the Ravens, but WR Jaylen Waddle still came away with a nice fantasy outing. He hauled in six of nine targets for 82 yards. And he should have had another 36-yarder, but it was negated by a bogus tripping call on RB Ollie Gordon. Waddle accounted for 31% of Miami's receiving yardage in this one. His nine targets ranked second to only RB De'Von Achane's 10 and were a 22.5% share.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 20 of 26 passes for 205 yards and 4 TDs in Sunday's surprising win over Atlanta. Miami's 34 points set a season high.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (hamstring/rest) is off the final injury report. He was added on Thursday and limited in practice but put in a full workout on Friday. Waddle should be ready for his usual role in this weekend’s game vs. the Falcons.
