ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that there's "optimism" that Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) will be back for Week 17. Stroud remained sidelined in practice all last week but "has begun to make some progress" through the protocol, according to Schefter. We'll track the rookie's status this coming week. QB Case Keenum starts vs. the Browns today.

Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) did not practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Browns. He’s seemingly made very little progress through the protocol and isn’t a lock to make it back for Week 17. QB Case Keenum starts again this weekend.

Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) is "likely" to miss Sunday's game against the Browns, a source tells ESPN. The team, of course, will continue to monitor Stroud's progress through the concussion protocol before making a final decision on his Week 16 status. But fantasy owners should now assume that it'll be QB Case Keenum at the helm for Houston again this weekend. Keenum did just enough to eke out a win over the Titans last week, completing 64% of his passes at 6.4 yards per attempt with one TD and one INT. This news obviously deals a blow to all of Houston's pass-catchers.

Texans QB C.J. Stroud (concussion) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game vs. the Titans. No surprise after he missed practice all week. Stroud has a good chance to be cleared for Week 16. QB Case Keenum is expected to draw the start against Tennessee tomorrow.

The Texans are expected to start QB Case Keenum rather than Davis Mills against the Titans on Sunday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston. Texans coaches reportedly trust Keenum's "big-game experience" as they fight for a playoff berth. We don't see a huge difference in fantasy outlook for the Texans offense between the two QBs, especially with Tank Dell out and Nico Collins not expected to play.

Bills QB Josh Allen (elbow) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Vikings. He put in a limited practice on Friday after missing the previous 2 days. HC Sean McDermott described Allen as "hour-by-hour" on Friday morning, so Allen's status might come down to how that elbow feels on Sunday. We'll continue to look for updates on Allen and will get Buffalo's inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. QB Case Keenum will start if Allen can't.

Bills QB Josh Allen (elbow) missed practice again on Thursday. We're currently projecting Allen to miss Sunday's game vs. the Vikings, leaving QB Case Keenum as Buffalo's starter. We'll see if Allen practices on Friday and then how he's listed on the final injury report.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Bills QB Josh Allen's status for Sunday's game vs. the Vikings is "up in the air." Rapoport confirms that Allen is dealing with a sprained UCL in his throwing elbow. "Not considered to be a major, major injury," Rapoport adds. "The belief is it's something that he can play through." Allen is expected to be limited in practice to start the week -- and then monitored each day leading up to Sunday. Rapoport also describes the injury as a "functionality issue," rather than a pain-tolerance thing. "Sometimes, with this injury, it affects the grip of the football," Rapoport explains. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Allen's status. QB Case Keenum is Buffalo's backup.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield is considering sitting out Sunday's finale vs. the Bengals. He's dealt with a plethora of injuries this season, including a torn labrum in his left shoulder that will require surgery this offseason. "I'm an extremely competitive guy," Mayfield said after taking 9 sacks in Monday night's loss to the Steelers. "Now it's time for me to start looking at what's in the best interest of me and my health. ... Right now, I'm pretty damn beat up, to be honest with you. There's no way around it." QB Case Keenum figures to start for Cleveland this weekend if Mayfield doesn't.

Browns QBs Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum have been activated from the COVID list. Mayfield should start Saturday's game vs. the Packers -- but will do so without having practiced all week. He's just a low-end QB2 in what figures to be a run-heavy attack from the Browns.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield, QB Case Keenum, WR Jarvis Landry and TE Austin Hooper will not be activated from the COVID list for tonight's game vs. the Raiders, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. So QB Nick Mullens will get the start for Cleveland. His top 2 WRs figure to be Donovan Peoples-Jones and Rashard Higgins. David Njoku should top the TE depth chart. We'll see if TE Harrison Bryant (ankle) is able to play. Expect a run-heavy game plan featuring Nick Chubb from the Browns.

The Raiders at Browns game originally scheduled to kick off at 4:30 pm ET on Saturday is being moved to Monday due to the rash of COVID positives on the Browns, according to insider Josina Anderson. Even that is probably still subject to change based on more positive COVID tests in Cleveland. We'll see if any of the Browns currently on the COVID list -- namely Baker Mayfield, Case Keenum, Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper -- are activated before Monday. But, as of now, we'd still plan on not having those guys in Week 15 fantasy lineups.

Update: Raiders-Browns will kick off at 5 pm ET on Monday, per Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Browns QB Case Keenum has joined QB Baker Mayfield on the COVID list. That leaves QB Nick Mullens to start Saturday's game vs. the Raiders. Mullens has been on the practice squad since September 1, so he at least has some familiarity with the offense. Mullens made 8 starts for the 49ers between 2018 and 2020 and owns a career 64.5% completion rate, 7.9 yards-per-attempt average and 25 TDs vs. 22 INTs. He's probably not a significant downgrade from Keenum. We're still expecting a run-heavy attack from Cleveland on Saturday.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield landed on the COVID list Tuesday after a positive test. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that "there are more positive tests with more Cleveland players," indicating that more names will be added today. The Browns had already placed 8 players on the list Monday. We'll see whether the outbreak winds up postponing Saturday's game against the Raiders -- which is in Cleveland. If it doesn't, then Mayfield looks likely to miss the game. Case Keenum would start in his place.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield suffered a knee injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. New England. He's officially questionable to return, but QB Case Keenum is now in the game. We'll update Mayfield's status when we know more.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Browns QB Baker Mayfield has a fractured humerus bone in his left shoulder, in addition to the torn labrum. He needs that fracture to heal before he'll be cleared to play. Mayfield told Glazer that he's "hoping" to return next week, but that feels unlikely. We'll keep you updated on the situation.

The forecast for tonight's Broncos-Browns game calls for sustained winds up to 20 mph and gusts around 30 mph. That's enough to impact some longer throws and kicks -- and another reason to expect this to be a low-scoring game.

Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said Wednesday that QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos and that QB Case Keenum will get the start. "Baker obviously wants to be out there but just couldn’t make it on a short week," Stefanski said. “We know he will continue to do everything in his power to return as quickly as possible." We'll see if Mayfield can make it back for Week 8. Keenum, meanwhile, will make his 1st start since Week 17 of the 2019 season. The 33-year-old has 62 career starts under his belt and sports a 62.3% completion rate, 6.9 yards-per-attempt average and 75 TDs vs. 47 INTs. Keenum is a capable backup but still a downgrade from Mayfield.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield appeared to injure his left arm while trying to make a tackle on an INT in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Texans. Stay tuned for an update. QB Case Keenum is Cleveland's backup.

Update: Mayfield returned on the next series.
