NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Raiders WR Henry Ruggs is "a long shot" to play Sunday against the Bills. He's dealing with the hamstring injury that knocked him out of Week 3. That would leave Vegas without both rookie wideouts, as Bryan Edwards is also expected to sit. Those injuries certainly boost the upside for the Bills' defense in fantasy, while lowering the ceiling for Raiders QB Derek Carr. WR Hunter Renfrow should be in for nice target volume in a matchup that has proved favorable to slot WRs.
Raiders WR Henry Ruggs (knee, hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game against the Patriots. He’s been battling the knee since Week 1; the hamstring issue is new. Ruggs’ absence will free up some extra targets for Darren Waller, Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow and Nelson Agholor.
Raiders OC Greg Olson revealed that the team plans to use WR Henry Ruggs in the slot this season. Olson added that Ruggs can be "very multiple" and move around to "different spots." Very few guys are strictly slot receivers in today's NFL, so expect to see Ruggs kicked outside the numbers on occasion. But we do like his fit in the slot, where he'll avoid press coverage and work shorter routes to take advantage of his after-catch ability. This news also means that WR Hunter Renfrow might find it tough to find the field after playing 71% of his snaps in the slot last season. It also means that rookie WR Bryan Edwards has a good shot to win a top-3 WR job on the outside opposite Tyrell Williams.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (rib) practiced all week and will return for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. The rookie is a low-upside PPR play.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (rib) is out for this weekend’s game against the Jaguars. That’s good news for TE Darren Waller, who’s seen 15 targets over the past 2 weeks with Renfrow out.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (rib, lung) is out for Sunday’s game against the Titans. That’s good news for TE Darren Waller, who averaged just 5.3 targets in the 6 games Renfrow saw 5+ targets this season vs. 9.2 targets in the other 5 games.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow (rib) is out for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. The rookie averaged 5.8 targets over the last 4 games, so his absence is a nice boost for WR Tyrell Williams and TE Darren Waller.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow suffered a broken rib and punctured lung in Sunday's loss to the Jets, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "It’s unclear at this point how long he’ll be out," Rapoport adds. We'd expect the rookie to miss multiple weeks with what sounds like a serious injury. Renfrow can be dropped in redraft leagues.
Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow suffered a rib injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Jets and is questionable to return. We'll pass along an update when we get one.
Broncos LB Todd Davis is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Raiders. Davis missed nearly all of training camp and the preseason with a calf injury that continued to keep him out of practice over the past week. His absence hurts a thin Denver LB depth chart but boosts the IDP upside of fellow ILB starter Josey Jewell. Elsewhere on the defense, slot CB Bryce Callahan is questionable with a foot injury that limited his practice participation all week. That's good news for Raiders rookie slot WR Hunter Renfrow, who sports some deep PPR upside.
The Raiders grabbed Clemson WR Hunter Renfrow in the 5th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Renfrow was a big part of Clemson's success over the past 4 seasons, racking up 186 catches. He averaged just 11.5 yards per reception, though, with 15 total TDs. The 5'11, 180-pounder registered a 10th percentile SPARQ score at the Combine. He projects as a sure-handed but low-upside slot receiver as a pro.
