Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Raiders WR Davante Adams snagged 7 of 12 targets for 57 yards in a Week 7 loss to Chicago. Adams dropped one well-thrown end zone ball, but watching Brian Hoyer in this one was painful. Before getting pulled late in the game, the veteran managed just 129 yards and 2 INTs. Jimmy Garoppolo (back) has a chance to return for a Week 8 date with Detroit. Regardless, Adams will remain a volume-driven WR1.
The Raiders have informed teams that they won't be trading WR Davante Adams prior to the October 31 trade deadline, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Adams complained about his usage earlier this week, but the team still views Adams as "one of the centerpieces of Raiders coach Josh McDaniels' offense," per Schefter. Adams is signed through the 2026 season.
As expected, Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (back) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Bears. He didn't practice all week and has no timetable for return. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that QB Brian Hoyer will get the start in Garoppolo's place. Hoyer went 6 of 10 for 102 yards in relief last week but should still be considered a downgrade for Las Vegas' pass-catchers. The 38-year-old threw just 108 regular-season passes across the previous five seasons.
Raiders WR Davante Adams says it's not enough that the team has won its past two games. He's not happy to have only seen 9 targets over that span, with 6 receptions for 74 yards and no TDs. "When you're a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses -- it's greatness," he said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "So when I go out there, I expect to be able to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. ... It's not about me, but I'm one of the bigger pieces as to why this offense is going to go. And if I'm not getting it, then that's obviously not according to plan." A high-level WR expressing displeasure with a lack of targets is not new. It's worth noting here, though, because we've wondered whether Adams' right-shoulder injury was to blame for his two-game downturn. Doesn't sound like it. And HC Josh McDaniels apparently has no problem with Adams' complaint. "Honestly, great players wouldn't be great if they didn't want to try to help the team win in every way they can," McDaniels said. "Our job is to make sure our best players have an opportunity to impact the game, and they can only do what they can do." The Raiders are trending toward starting a backup QB this Sunday against the Bears. Whether that's Brian Hoyer or rookie Aidan O'Connell, it's a downgrade from Jimmy Garoppolo. That hurts the WRs to some degree. But don't be surprised if Adams gets some extra attention in this week's game plan. Keep him in your lineup.
Raiders TE Michael Mayer saw his breakout game come in Week 6 vs. the Patriots. The rookie hauled in 5 of 6 targets and led the team with 75 receiving yards on Sunday. WR Jakobi Meyers also had a solid game with 5 receptions for 61 yards and a TD. We'd be remiss not to highlight the impact of the 6 targets Mayer saw in the contest. Before this weekend, WRs Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers were the only Raiders' pass-catchers who had seen 5 or more targets in a game this season. Mayer isn't a must-start option on Week 7 vs. the Bears, but he's worth a speculative waiver wire add, if nothing else.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) is not listed on the final Week 6 injury report after putting in a full practice on Friday. It looks like that shoulder injury is just about behind him. Adams remains a must-start for Sunday’s game vs. the Patriots.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) returned to a limited practice Thursday. It's an upgrade over last week, when Adams only got on the field for the final practice of the week. He should be closer to 100% for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots than he was this past Monday night.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. He played through this injury on Monday night but managed just four catches for 45 yards. Adams will play against the Patriots this weekend, but it's clear that he's not at 100%.
Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers hauled 7 of 10 targets for a team-high 75 yards with a TD on Monday night vs. the Packers. Fantasy managers hoping for a big “revenge game” from WR Davante Adams went to sleep disappointed. The former All-Pro had been targeted 33 times over the last two games but only saw 1 target in the first half of Week 5. He ended the game with 4 catches for 45 yards. Definitely a bit of a bummer. Next week, Adams will have a chance to bounce back against the Patriots.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) is active for tonight's game vs. the Packers. He was able to play through this injury last week, and there have been no reports about his playing time being limited tonight. The added risk comes with the chance of re-injury. But Adams belongs in fantasy lineups if you waited on him.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) is expected to play vs. the Packers tonight, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Adams has "barely practiced" since hurting the shoulder last week, Pelissero adds, so he comes with elevated risk in Week 5 fantasy lineups. But Adams should be available if you've been waiting on him. We'll get the Raiders' inactives around 7 pm ET.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game vs. the Packers. He got in just a limited practice on Saturday. Adams played through this injury last week, so we're expecting him to play on Monday. But we'll look for further updates on his status.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) missed practice again on Friday. He was able to play through this injury last week, so we're still expecting him to be out there against his former Packers squad on Monday night. But we'll see how Adams is listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
Raiders WR Davante Adams (shoulder) did not practice on Thursday. He was able to play through the injury last week, so he should be available for Monday night's game vs. the Packers. But we'll keep an eye on Adams over the next few days.
Raiders WR Davante Adams suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. He was in obvious pain on the field and is officially questionable to return. We'll update Adams' status as soon as we know more.
Update: Adams returned to the game later in the second quarter.
The Raiders will start rookie QB Aidan O'Connell over QB Brian Hoyer vs. the Chargers today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. O'Connell got the "majority" of the practice reps by the end of the week, per Schefter. O'Connell finished his four-year career at Purdue with a 66.7% completion rate, 7.4 yards per attempt, and 65 TDs vs. 30 INTs. He went in the fourth round of this spring's draft but was a preseason standout, completing 69.4% of his passes for 482 yards, three TDs, and 0 INTs. He ranked second among 68 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus passing grade. O'Connell is obviously a major question mark heading into his first regular-season start. But he at least brings more upside than the 37-year-old Hoyer.
The Raiders have downgraded QB Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) to out for Sunday's game against the Chargers. That means Brian Hoyer will start. It's obviously a downgrade for WRs Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Adams, though, delivered a 7-153-2 receiving line in Jarrett Stidham's first start last year after Derek Carr got benched. And he added a decent 5-73 the following week. So don't treat either player as though he's suddenly unusable, especially against a Chargers D that's already been bad and will now miss stars Joey Bosa and Derwin James. Check our Week 4 WR rankings to see where both settle.
Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. So he's made some progress through the protocol but still has multiple stages to clear in order to play vs. the Chargers. We'll get another update on his progress tomorrow.
Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He has a long way to go to be cleared for this weekend's game vs. the Chargers. QB Brian Hoyer is expected to start if Garoppolo can't. That'd be a significant downgrade for Vegas' pass-catchers.
Raiders WR Davante Adams hauled in 13 of 20 targets for 172 yards and 2 TDs in Week 3 vs. the Steelers. Teammate Jakobi Meyers saw major involvement in his return from a concussion, logging 7 catches on 12 targets for 85 yards in Sunday night’s loss. These performances certainly benefited fantasy managers this weekend, particularly the 42.2 PPR point effort from Adams. The Vegas duo will look to deliver again in Week 4 vs. the Chargers.
