The Athletic's James Boyd calls RB Zack Moss the Colts' "likely" starter once he's recovered from his broken arm. That's, of course, if RB Jonathan Taylor isn't in the picture. Boyd also writes that RB Evan Hull "could be poised for more snaps alongside [QB Anthony] Richardson" after a strong August. It was RB Deon Jackson who got the start in Indianapolis' final preseason game, so this remains a murky situation. Hull is the most intriguing target at the very end of fantasy drafts, although Moss is worth considering, too.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Colts have given RB Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade. He adds that "conversations to find potential landing spots are ongoing." Although the RB market is tough everywhere, we'd be surprised if the Colts and Taylor can't find a suitor. Of course, cost will be a huge factor -- potentially both in trade terms and Taylor's contract demands. Exactly where he lands will have a huge fantasy impact: on Taylor's outlook, on the Colts' remaining RB depth chart, and on any new backfield mates. We'll be watching closely for developments here.

Colts RB Deon Jackson missed Thursday's practice with a quad injury and is expected to sit out Saturday's preseason opener against the Bills, according to the team website. Indy, of course, was already without RB Zack Moss (wrist) and RB Jonathan Taylor (feelings, ankle?). That leaves recent signee Kenyan Drake and fifth-round rookie Evan Hull as the top healthy competitors for playing time. We'll see how long Jackson remains out. Taylor has been the only Colts back in draftable range in our RB rankings, but he has fallen during his training-camp absence. It's a tough situation to buy into at all in current fantasy football drafts. Indy also signed RB Jason Huntley this week.

Per NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Colts RB Zack Moss suffered a broken arm in practice on Monday. He’s expected to miss about six weeks. With Jonathan Taylor sidelined, the Colts are down to Deon Jackson and Evan Hull atop the RB depth chart.

The Colts selected RB Evan Hull in Round 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hull is intriguing for 2 reasons. First, he's excellent in the passing game, racking up 88 receptions over the last 2 years at Northwestern. Second, he's a plus athlete, registering a 93rd percentile Relative Athletic Score, highlighted by a 4.47-second 40 time and elite 6.90-second 3-cone at 5'10, 209 pounds. Hull joins a Colts backfield controlled by RB Jonathan Taylor. But the rookie could at least push Zack Moss and Deon Jackson for the #2 spot on the depth chart.

The Colts leaned on errant passing of QB Nick Foles, for some reason, despite hanging close with the Chargers into the 2nd half of Monday night's loss. RB Zack Moss got just 7 carries in the 1st half, compared with 18 dropbacks for Foles. Moss averaged 5.3 yards on those attempts, with RB Jordan Wilkins mixing in for a 4-yard run. But Moss got just 5 more carries for the game, finishing with a 12-65 rushing line (5.4 per attempt). Wilkins logged the only other RB carry. RB Deon Jackson drew 3 targets, catching them for 9 yards. Moss and Wilkins garnered a target apiece. It was a puzzling approach with a clearly struggling QB and against what has been a soft run defense most of the year. We'll see whether the Colts try to get Moss going more against the Giants in Week 17. Someone should tell them that the Giants are allowing 5.3 yards per RB rush for the season.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has been placed on IR, officially ending his 2022 season. RB Jordan Wilkins was signed to the active roster in a corresponding move. Wilkins joins Zack Moss and Deon Jackson in Indianapolis' backfield going forward. See where the Colts RBs sit in the initial Week 16 RB Rankings.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "He’s still meeting with doctors, but it’s considered highly unlikely that he’ll play again this season," Rapoport adds. Taylor was bothered by right ankle trouble all season and will end up missing 6 games and most of a 7th. Turning just 24 in January, he's an easy bounce-back candidate in 2023. We'll see what the Colts do at QB. Taylor's absence the rest of this season leaves the backfield to Zack Moss and Deon Jackson. Week 16 brings a solid matchup vs. the Chargers, but a bad Indianapolis offense and uncertain workload split will leave both guys as just RB3 or flex plays.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Colts RB Jonathan Taylor's latest ankle injury is considered "nothing major." Taylor is scheduled for additional testing, though. "And with the Colts 4-9-1 record, it is uncertain when or if he’ll play again this season," Schefter adds. We should learn more about Taylor's rest-of-season outlook over the next few days. The Colts deployed a 2-man committee backfield without Taylor for most of Saturday's loss to the Vikings, with Zack Moss handling 24 carries and 1 target and Deon Jackson tallying 13 carries and 1 target. Both guys will be low-end fantasy options if Taylor misses more time.

Colts RB Zack Moss took advantage of RB Jonathan Taylor leaving Saturday's game early. He racked up 24 carries for 81 yards (3.4 per rush) in the OT loss to the Vikings. Moss also saw his lone target fall incomplete. We'll see about Taylor's status for a Week 16 home date with the Chargers. Moss will be worth grabbing on waivers in many cases ahead of that. RB Deon Jackson ran 2nd against Minnesota, carrying 13 times for 55 yards (4.2 per rush). He caught his lone target for 1 yard.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is questionable to return to Saturday's game vs. the Vikings after injuring his right ankle on his 1st touch. That's the same ankle that's given him trouble for much of this season. We'll update his status when we know more. Zack Moss and Deon Jackson are handling backfield duties with Taylor out.

Update: Taylor has been downgraded to out. He finishes with 1 catch for 13 yards.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor loaded up on carries in Sunday's narrow loss to the Eagles, rushing 22 times for 84 yards and a TD. He added 3 catches for 10 yards among 4 targets. RB Deon Jackson matched that target count by carried only once. RB Zack Moss added 2 carries for 7 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, Jackson stepped in as the primary back in 2-minute drill situations. That role will pump up a RB's target count. Fewer such situations should shift a bit more work from Jackson to Taylor.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is not listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. The ankle still adds some risk to his fantasy profile, as does a floundering Colts offense. But Taylor should be in for plenty of touches on Sunday as long as that ankle holds up. RB Deon Jackson (knee) is out for Week 10, leaving Jordan Wilkins as Indianapolis’ likely #2 RB.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice. That seemingly gives him a shot to return for this weekend's game vs. the Raiders. We'll see what Taylor does over the next couple of days. RB Deon Jackson (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.

Colts RB Deon Jackson gained just 23 yards on 11 carries in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, starting in place of injured RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle). Jackson added 2 receptions for 13 yards on 3 targets. RB Jordan Wilkins followed Jackson with 13 yards on 3 carries but beat him in targets (5), catches (4) and receiving yards (15). RB Phillip Lindsay ran for 2 yards on his lone carry and watched his lone target fall incomplete. We'll see if Taylor can make it back for next Sunday's visit to Las Vegas.

Colts RB Zack Moss is a healthy scratch for today’s game vs. the Patriots. Indianapolis will roll with RBs Deon Jackson, Phillip Lindsay and Jordan Wilkins.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. He aggravated that ankle sprain last weekend and didn't practice at all this week. HC Frank Reich said Friday that there are no plans to put Taylor on IR right now but labeled him "week to week." Indianapolis' bye isn't until Week 14. Taylor's absence leaves the Colts with RBs Deon Jackson, Phillip Lindsay and the newly acquired Zack Moss. With Taylor out in Weeks 5 and 6, Jackson totaled 25 carries and 14 targets to Lindsay's 14 carries and 7 targets. Jackson should lead the way this weekend and is a decent RB2 play with 6 teams on bye.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) remained sidelined on Thursday. He battled through this injury last week but certainly isn't a lock to play vs. Patriots on Sunday. Check back tomorrow for another update on JT. His absence this weekend would leave Deon Jackson as Indianapolis' likely lead back.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor will not practice today because of the ankle sprain he aggravated in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. Taylor returned to finish that game, so we'd bet on him being ready by this Sunday. But he's certainly no lock. We'd bet on Deon Jackson being the next man up if Taylor can't play, though we'll see how just-acquired Zack Moss factors in.
