The forecast for today's Steelers-Dolphins game calls for a 55% chance of rain with winds of 14-16 mph. Those obviously aren't ideal conditions for the passing games, but it's not enough to impact our projections.

The Dolphins have been leaning on short passes in training camp. "Screens, dump-offs or short to intermediate routes," the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson writes. HC Adam Gase says that's by design. “More teams than not, it’s 10 yards and under. That’s where all the passing game is. The d-ends are too good. If you want to stand back there and have your quarterbacks get your brains beat out, go at it." Gase has done well adjusting his scheme to his players' strengths, and this looks like more of the same. Miami's pass protection is questionable, and QB Ryan Tannehill struggles with the deep ball. More short passing figures to be good news for WR Jarvis Landry and the RBs and bad for WR DeVante Parker.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is probable for this weekend’s game against the Chargers. He put in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. Even at less than 100%, he’s a fine WR2 in the plus matchup.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (knee) was held out of Thursday's practice after being limited on Wednesday.  It's unclear if he suffered a setback or is just getting some rest after being targeted 18 times on Monday night.  We'll update Landry's status again tomorrow.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (knee) put in a limited practice Thursday because of a knee issue that rendered him questionable for Week 12 and then probable last week. That "questionable" game, of course, delivered his biggest numbers of the season against the Jets. So we have no reason to worry about it right now, although it's interesting that Landry joined the injury report Friday after staying off it Thursday. We'll watch his status through the weekend.

Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) is out for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. WR Kenny Stills is questionable after tweaking his ankle in Thursday’s practice. Miami expects Stills to play, according to insider Armando Salguero, but he’ll be the #3 WR behind Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker.

The Dolphins have fired OC Bill Lazor, according to Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans.  Lazor appeared to have Miami's offense on track for a couple of games after HC Joe Philbin was canned, but the Fins have averaged just 15.6 points over the past 5 outings.  RB Lamar Miller has inexplicably carried just 12 carries over the last 2.  QB coach Zac Taylor will take over as the interim OC.  He's never called plays at any level.  Don't bank on significant improvement from the Miami offense down the stretch.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is expected to play against the Jets today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Landry only got in a limited practice on Thursday, so he won't be at 100%.  But with CB Darrelle Revis (concussion) out, Landry is worth using as a WR2.

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Jets. He was held out Wednesday, put in a limited practice Thursday and sidelined again on Friday. But HC Dan Campbell said Friday that he “feels good” about Landry’s Week 12 availability. We’ll find out his official status by noon ET on Sunday. If active, he’ll be a solid WR2 play against a Jets secondary missing top CB Darrelle Revis.

The Dolphins listed WR Jarvis Landry as a limited participant Thursday after he missed Wednesday's workout with knee trouble. The return to practice points to him likely being available Sunday against the Jets. We'll check on his status heading into the weekend.

The forecast for today's Cowboys-Dolphins game calls for an 85% chance of rain, thunderstorms and winds of 10-14 mph.  It's not quite enough for us to alter our projections, but the sloppy conditions should be used as a tiebreaker if you're on the fence about using a Cowboy or Dolphin in your fantasy lineup.

The Dolphins have fired HC Joe Philbin, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  Philbin finishes his Miami career with a 24-28 record, including an ugly 1-3 start to 2015.  No word yet on whether any of the assistant coaches got the ax, but TE coach Dan Campbell is expected to step in as the interim HC.  From a fantasy perspective, we can only hope that the move leads to more commitment to RB Lamar Miller and the running game.  Miller has carried just 37 carries in 4 games, including 7 in each of the last 2.

Miami’s newly released depth chart lists RB LaMichael James as the kick and punt returner. It’ll mark a change from last year if he sticks, as WR Jarvis Landry posted 1,158 yards on 59 combined returns as a rookie. Landry’s still a highly appealing PPR option, but he obviously loses some luster in leagues that award special teams points.

ESPN's James Walker expects Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry to "do a lot of damage in the red-zone" this season.  Landry scored just 5 times and saw only 14 red-zone targets as a rookie last year.  But we've already seen him score in the 1st preseason game on a designed play from the 2-yard line and then see 2 red-zone targets in the 2nd.  Walker "wouldn't be surprised" if Landry doubles his TD total this season.  We're not betting on that, but even 7-8 scores would make him a solid weekly starter in non-PPR leagues.  He's already there in PPR.

Despite the additions of WRs DeVante Parker and Greg Jennings, Dolphins insider James Walker believes WR Kenny Stills remains a "safe bet" to start this season.  WR Jarvis Landry will stay in his slot role, according to Walker, while Parker and Jennings duke it out for the other outside spot.  (We'll bet on Parker winning that battle.)  This is a deep WR corps, and the targets might be tough to predict on a week-to-week basis.  But the ultra-efficient Stills could still produce WR3 numbers.
