The Chiefs have placed rookie CB L'Jarius Sneed on IR after he suffered a broken collarbone in Monday night's win over the Ravens. HC Andy Reid didn't share an expected timeline for Sneed's recovery. The history of collarbone fractures gives him a chance to return late in the season. But you should feel safe to drop Sneed outside of dynasty leagues. He jumped onto the IDP radar with INTs in each of the 1st 2 weeks and should be in K.C.'s starting mix whenever he does return. CB Charvarius Ward checked in for Sneed after the rookie left Monday night. Look for Ward -- who is coming off surgery for a broken thumb -- to replace Sneed in the starting lineup going forward. He lost 8 games last season to an academic-fraud suspension and also punched a teammate, who then missed the Music City Bowl. Gay lands in a nice situation for immediate opportunity, though. Kansas City finished last season with no LB consistently playing full time. We'll see if he's ready to seize that opportunity in 2020. Gay certainly carries long-term intrigue for dynasty leagues.

The Chiefs have applied the franchise tag to DT Chris Jones. It was the expected move, to keep 1 of the team's top defensive players from hitting free agency. When healthy, Jones is a top-20 fantasy D-linemen and 1 of the top fantasy DTs available. He'll turn just 26 in July.
