The Chiefs have ruled OLB Justin Houston (knee) out for Week 17. That's not surprising, considering the repaired joint has been bothering Houston for a couple of weeks. Missing him dings the pass-rushing upside a bit, but Dee Ford has enjoyed a breakthrough year and makes up for some of that in Houston's place. Overall, this news shouldn't alter your outlook for the K.C. team defense in fantasy.

Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (knee) is inactive for tonight's game against the Broncos. That takes away an IDP option that dominated the 1st meeting and also removes some upside from the Kansas City team D. We're still talking about the league leader in takeaways, though.

Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (illness) is active for today's game against the Titans, as expected. He's fine to use as you normally would, though HC Andy Reid said Friday that Houston's knee is "tender."

Chiefs OLB Justin Houston is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, but he's expected to play, according to Matt Derrick of the Topeka Capital-Journal. Houston was limited Wednesday by an illness and then missed Thursday's workout with knee trouble. HC Andy Reid said Friday that the knee was "tender" but that Houston would play Sunday.

Chiefs OLBs Justin Houston (shoulder) and Dee Ford (hamstring) are both active for today's game against the Falcons. NT Dontari Poe (back) is also active but missed practice all week. CB Phillip Gaines (knee) is out for the game.

Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (shoulder) and OLB Dee Ford (hamstring) are questionable for Sunday's game in Atlanta. Houston suffered his injury in the 2nd quarter of his huge outing at Denver last Sunday night and played through it. He put in a full practice Wednesday before sitting out Thursday and putting in a limited workout Friday. The fact that he participated at all leads us to believe he'll play. Similarly, Ford put in limited practices all week and would seem on track to return. NT Dontari Poe (back) is also questionable after missing practice all week. He's not much of an IDP option even if he plays. We'll update the status for all 3 Sunday morning.

The Chiefs on Thursday placed DE Jaye Howard on IR. Howard had missed the past 3 games with a hip injury. He wasn't an every-week starter for IDP lineups when healthy but carries DL2 potential when in the lineup. Second-year DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches has seen his playing time grow over that 3-game stretch and is worth a look in deep IDP leagues. He cracked our DL rankings for the 1st time this week.

Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson (Achilles'), CB Marcus Peters (hip) and NT Dontari Poe (back) are active for tonight's game against the Chiefs after entering today questionable. CB Steven Nelson (neck) is inactive after also entering Sunday questionable.

Chiefs OLB Dee Ford left in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with a hamstring injury and was ruled out. We'll see about his status for Week 12 and beyond. Further time off for Ford would only make it easier to find snaps for OLB Justin Houston.

Chiefs CB Marcus Peters (hip) is out for today's game against the Buccaneers. He joins DE Jaye Howard (hip) -- who was doubtful -- on the inactive list. The other questionable defensive starters are active: LB Derrick Johnson (hamstring), CB Phillip Gaines (neck), NT Dontari Poe (knee) and OLB Justin Houston (knee). Houston will make his season debut after opening the year on the PUP list.
