Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) will open training camp on the PUP list. No surprise there. With Watkins out, Buffalo will give extra reps to a host of WRs battling for the #3 role behind Robert Woods.

Bills WR Robert Woods says he's finally healthy after dealing with a groin injury all last season, according to the Buffalo News. Woods suffered the injury in an August joint practice with Cleveland but didn't talk to reporters about it, saying he didn't want opponents to target the area. He eventually had surgery in late December and resumed sprinting in March. "I feel like I can run again," he said Thursday. "I'm healthy. I got my speed back." Woods said he had trouble "opening up" and running at full speed in 2015, which made it tough to create separation. He's not likely to find a large load of targets in the league's run-heaviest offense of 2015, especially when Sammy Watkins returns to grab the dominant #1 share. But Woods' downfield ability can match nicely with QB Tyrod Taylor's deep passing and create some TD opportunities. Further missed time for Watkins would also shift targets toward Woods. He's not an exciting fantasy football option, but a player to keep in mind in the final few rounds.

Bills GM Doug Whaley suggested that Robert Woods has lost his role as the clear-cut #2 WR.  “We’d love to (have a bona fide #2 receiver), but we think with the mix of guys we have we can generate a #2 receiver, between (Marquise) Goodwin, (Robert) Woods, (Greg) Salas who we signed. Leonard Hankerson if we can get him back and then Greg Little that we signed," Whaley said.  Woods has averaged just 51 catches, 613 yards and 3.7 TDs in 3 seasons since getting picked in the 2nd round of the 2013 draft.  He's yet to be a fantasy asset and isn't a good bet to be one in 2016.

Bills WR Robert Woods suffered what HC Rex Ryan labeled a "severe" groin injury in Sunday's loss to the Redskins.  That'll likely end his season.  Woods is sitting on 47 catches, 553 yards and 3 scores -- all down from his 65-699-5 line last season.  He has 1 year left on his rookie deal with the Bills.  Chris Hogan figures to step in as Buffalo's #2 WR but won't be a fantasy option.

Bills TE Charles Clay (back) is out for Sunday's game against the Redskins.  He didn't practice all week.  TE Chris Gragg will step in for Clay but isn't a fantasy option.  WR Robert Woods figures to serve as the #2 option in Buffalo's passing game.

Bills TE Charles Clay (back) remained sidelined on Thursday.  He doesn't look like a good bet to play against the Redskins this weekend.  TE Chris Gragg would likely start in his place, but WR Robert Woods would be the clear #2 option in the passing game.

Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) won't play against the Jaguars this weekend, HC Rex Ryan announced on Thursday.  That he was ruled out so early in the week suggests that Watkins is dealing with a significant sprain.  The good news is that Buffalo has a Week 8 bye.  With Percy Harvin (hip) also out, Robert Woods and Chris Hogan will serve as the Bills' top 2 WRs this weekend.  Both are just desperation fantasy options.

Bills WR Sammy Watkins (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.  He at least traveled with the team to London -- unlike WR Percy Harvin (hip) and RB Karlos Williams (concussion) -- and HC Rex Ryan has not ruled him out.  But fantasy owners can't be counting on Watkins in Week 7.  If he can't play against the Jaguars, Buffalo would be left with Robert Woods and Chris Hogan as its top 2 WRs.

"Will he play?  Probably not."  That was Bills HC Rex Ryan on WR Sammy Watkins (calf) in a Wednesday radio appearance.  Watkins went down with a strained calf last weekend and never returned.  His absence will leave Percy Harvin and Robert Woods as Buffalo's top 2 WRs.  It'll also likely mean a few extra targets for TE Charles Clay.

Bills WR Robert Woods left in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game with a back injury.  He's questionable to return.  Mike Williams has replaced Woods as Buffalo's #2 WR.

Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Chargers. There have been reports that his role will be limited, though. Woods shouldn’t be in fantasy lineups this week.

Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) put in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday, missing Thursday’s workout in between. He’s listed as probable, though, and is fully expected to play against the Chargers this weekend. But after last week’s 1-catch dud, he belongs on fantasy benches.

Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) did not practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday.  He now looks iffy for this weekend's game against the Chargers.  After catching just 1 ball on 3 targets last week, Woods shouldn't have been in fantasy lineups anyway.  WR Mike Williams would draw the start on Sunday if Woods is out.

Mike Williams ran as the Bills' #2 WR all summer. But it was Robert Woods in that role in the season opener. He played 52 of 57 snaps (91%), compared to just 30 (53%) for Williams. Woods ended up leading the team in targets (6), catches (4) and receiving yards (78). He showed good chemistry with QB E.J. Manuel last year and could emerge as a WR3 option this season if he continues to play a full-time role.

Bills LT Cordy Glenn opened training camp on the Active/Non-Football Illness list.  The team has announced that Glenn is dealing with an illness but hasn't provided any other details.  "It's a medical condition. I'm preparing to go on as if he's not playing, which he's not," HC Doug Marrone said. "I'm just waiting for the doctors, and I can't speak about the condition because it's something that happened outside of football."  It doesn't sound like the Bills are expecting Glenn back anytime soon.  His loss would be significant for QB E.J. Manuel, RB C.J. Spiller, WR Sammy Watkins and the rest of Buffalo's skill-position guys.  Glenn ranked among the top 15 OTs in Pro Football Focus' 2013 pass- and run-blocking grades.

Bills insider Joe Buscaglia highlighted WR Robert Woods as one of the team's minicamp standouts.  Woods missed some time earlier this offseason after undergoing ankle surgery, but it reportedly didn't take him long to rediscover his chemistry with QB E.J. Manuel.  Those 2 hooked up 26 times for 406 yards and 3 TDs in their 8 games together last year.  That 16-game pace of 52-812-6 would have made Woods a top 35 fantasy WR.  He's capable of reaching WR3 territory this season, despite the additions of Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams.  Woods seems locked into a starting spot and has a good rapport with Manuel.

Bills WR Robert Woods is sitting out this week's OTAs after undergoing ankle surgery in February.  He's hoping to be ready for June's minicamp.  "The timetable is three months, which is around mandatory minicamp," Woods said.  "I'm actually pretty much full-go, but they just want to stick to the schedule anyway, just to make sure. They just want to be safe and just keep pushing forward."  We never like to see young players missing offseason reps.  We'll see if Woods can get on the field next month.  He'll battle for targets with WRs Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams this summer.

The 49ers have acquired WR Stevie Johnson from the Bills in exchange for a conditional 2015 4th-round pick that can become a 3rd-rounder, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.  There was no room left for Johnson in Buffalo after the team added WR Sammy Watkins on Thursday night.  The Bills will roll with Watkins, Mike Williams and Robert Woods as their top 3 receivers.  In San Francisco, Johnson will slide in as the #3 WR behind Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin.  The 49ers had 3 WRs on the field a league-low 26% of the time last year.  That mark will certainly rise in 2014, but Johnson figures to struggle for consistent targets and reliable weekly fantasy value.

Bills WR Stevie Johnson is out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.  He's still back in California to mourn the death of his mother.  His 2013 season ends with 52 catches, 597 yards and 3 TDs in 12 games -- all his lowest marks since 2009.  Rookie Robert Woods will operate as Buffalo's #1 WR this weekend but is just a WR3 in fantasy with QB Thad Lewis under center.

Bills WR Stevie Johnson won't play against the Dolphins this weekend.  His mother unexpectedly passed away last weekend, so he'll be home in California.  That leaves Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin and T.J. Graham as Buffalo's top 3 WRs.  None of them are recommended fantasy starters, especially with Thad Lewis under center
