Bengals #2 RB Samaje Perine claimed 3 of QB Joe Burrow's 4 TD passes in Sunday's win over the Steelers. The 1st came before Joe Mixon left with a concussion, but the other 2 followed his 2nd-quarter departure. Perine caught 4 passes for 52 yards in all. He also led an inefficient run game, carrying 11 times or 30 yards (2.7 per rush). Mixon also averaged just 2.9 yards per carry on his 7 attempts before leaving. Mixon's injury gives Perine a pretty good chance at starting Week 12. Unfortunately for him, that will come against the league's top run defense (Titans).

Bengals RB Joe Mixon has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers with a concussion. It's his 2nd documented concussion, with the 1st coming back in 2017. We'll track Mixon's progress through the protocol this coming week. His absence leaves Samaje Perine as Cincinnati's top RB.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon posted 14 carries for 78 yards in Sunday’s loss at Baltimore. He finally found some room to run, leading to a season-best 5.5 YPC. His passing-game contributions remained minor, though. With 3 catches for 10 yards, he’s now been held under 15 receiving yards in 3 straight. Backup Samaje Perine beat Mixon in targets (4-3), although Perine did trail Mixon in routes run (12-20). Despite a league-high 15 carries inside the 10, Mixon remains stuck on 1 total score. Week 6 turns up a road matchup with New Orleans.

Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Monday that RB Samaje Perine has a “leg up” in the competition to be the 3rd-down back. Taylor also called Perine a "security blanket" while acknowledging that 2nd-year RB Chris Evans could still earn the role. The main takeaway here is that the team doesn't want to put too much on Joe Mixon's plate, despite his 3-down skill set. A Mixon injury would almost certainly lead to a timeshare.

Bengals RB Samaje Perine was activated from the PUP list on Wednesday. He operated as Cincinnati's #2 RB last season but will need to hold off 2nd-year RB Chris Evans for that job this summer.

The Bengals on Saturday placed RB Samaje Perine on the training camp PUP list. The team didn't reveal his injury, and a player can come off the camp PUP at any point. But it certainly doesn't help him in his competition with Chris Evans to serve as the team's #2 RB. We'll be watching that battle throughout camp.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon was added to the COVID list on Wednesday. The timing here means that he can't be cleared in time for Sunday's regular-season finale vs. the Browns. Mixon should be back for the opening round of the playoffs. His absence this weekend will leave Samaje Perine as Cincinnati's likely lead back and rookie Chris Evans in a change-of-pace, pass-catching role. RB Trayveon Williams is also on the active roster.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon injured his left ankle late in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He never re-entered but was at least trying to keep the ankle loose by jogging on the sidelines. That at least suggests that this isn't a serious injury, but we should learn more on Monday. Samaje Perine will step in as Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon misses times.

The Bengals list RB Joe Mixon as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the 49ers. He missed practice all week with an illness. Mixon was at least watching on the sidelines on Friday, and HC Zac Taylor said afterward that he expects Mixon to play. We’ll continue looking for updates on his status. 49ers-Bengals doesn’t kick off until 4:25 pm ET on Sunday. Samaje Perine would be Cincinnati's lead back if Mixon is out this week.

Bengals RB Chris Evans (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game against the Jets. Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine will handle all of Cincinnati's backfield work.

Bengals RB Samaje Perine has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Sunday's game against the Ravens to give lead back Joe Mixon a few breathers.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Lions. He was listed as questionable after getting in only 2 limited practices this week. But HC Zac Taylor said Friday morning that Mixon “should get a full workload” vs. Detroit. RB Samaje Perine (COVID) is out, which can’t hurt Mixon’s volume. Consider him a risk/reward RB1 today.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Lions after getting in limited practices on Wednesday and Friday. That’s not a great look, but HC Zac Taylor said Friday morning that Mixon “should get a full workload” this weekend. RB Samaje Perine remains on the COVID list as of Friday afternoon, leaving RBs Chris Evans and Trayveon Williams behind Mixon on the depth chart.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) did not practice on Thursday. He either suffered a setback with that ankle or got the day off. Tomorrow's practice participation and final injury report will tell the story. With RB Samaje Perine still on the COVID list, rookie Chris Evans could be left as the lead back for Sunday's game vs. the Lions.

The Bengals have placed RB Samaje Perine on the COVID list. His specific status isn't yet clear, but he at least looks very iffy for Week 6. Perine isn't much of a standalone fantasy option when Joe Mixon is healthy, but he did eat up 11 carries (for 59 yards) and catch 4 balls for 24 yards and a TD in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Perine played more than 3 times as many snaps as Mixon in that game and beat him in rushing attempts and targets. As long as Mixon avoids any setback with his sprained ankle, we'd assume more work for the starter in this Sunday's visit to Detroit. If Perine is out, then Chris Evans should see some involvment. We wouldn't expect him to be an option for fantasy football lineups, though.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Packers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport confirms that Mixon "won't be 100%" but doesn't say whether he'll be on any type of snap or touch count. We're expecting Mixon to be limited to some extent and would try to avoid Cincinnati's backfield in Week 5 fantasy lineups.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is trending toward playing "in some capacity" vs. the Packers tomorrow. His Saturday morning workout evidently went well. Of course, the report makes it sound like Mixon will be limited to some extent. The exact extent is unclear, leaving fantasy owners in a tough spot. We'll look for further updates on the situation, but Mixon is still better off on fantasy benches right now. Same goes for RB Samaje Perine unless Mixon ends up inactive tomorrow.

The Bengals list RB Joe Mixon (ankle) as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Packers. He didn't practice all week, but HC Zac Taylor said they'll test that ankle on Saturday. We'll look for further updates and will get Mixon's game status by noon ET on Sunday. He'll obviously carry elevated risk if he ends up active. If not, look for RB Samaje Perine to lead a committee attack ahead of RB Chris Evans.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday. At this point, he seems unlikely to play vs. the Packers this weekend. HC Bill Callahan said it'll be a "committee" approach with RBs Samaje Perine and Chris Evans if Mixon is out. We're expecting Perine to handle most of the rushing work, with Evans entering in passing situations.
