Omarion Hampton Takes Advantage of Najee Harris Injury

The Chargers lost RB Najee Harris in the middle of the second quarter Sunday to a torn left Achilles' tendon. That allowed rookie RB Omarion Hampton to grab total backfield control in a game that found him racking up 25 touches and 129 total yards. Hampton ran 19 times for 70 yards and a TD. He added 6 receptions for 59 yards on seven targets in the narrow victory over the Broncos.

        Najee Harris Has Achilles Injury

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh confirmed after the Week 3 win over the Broncos that RB Najee Harris has an Achilles injury. He's set for additional testing, but this will most likely end up as a season-ending tear. That'd clear the way for RB Omarion Hampton to play a workhorse role the rest of the way. The rookie had his best game of the young season vs. Denver, running 19 times for 70 yards and a score and catching six of seven targets for 57 yards. Hassan Haskins will step in as Los Angeles' No. 2 RB, with RB Kimani Vidal likely to be elevated from the practice squad.

        Najee Harris Hurts Left Leg

Chargers RB Najee Harris suffered a left leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He put no weight on the leg as he was helped off the field and was immediately carted back to the locker room. We'll update Harris' status when we know more.

Update: Harris is officially questionable to return with an ankle injury, although it sure looked like an Achilles injury to us.

Najee Harris Expected To Be Ready For Season

Chargers RB Najee Harris is expected to be ready for the start of the season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Harris suffered a relatively minor eye injury in a July 4 fireworks accident. He's expected to miss "limited time" at the start of training camp but return "sooner rather than later," Rapoport says.

Chargers Bolster Backfield with Omarion Hampton

The Chargers selected North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton with the 22nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hampton stayed home in North Carolina after high school instead of attending a bigger program like Penn State or Florida. The decision worked out, as he took over the starting role by his second season and never looked back. Hampton carried the UNC offense for the last two years – including when Drake Maye was his QB (2023). Over that span, the 221-pounder racked up 3,164 rushing yards, 33 total TDs, and 67 catches. Hampton wins with excellent power and contact balance, and he’s largely proven durable as a college player. He hasn’t missed a game due to injury over the past two seasons.

Jaylen Warren Questionable, Najee Harris Will Play Week 11

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (back) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Ravens. He was added to the injury report and did not practice on Thursday but returned to a limited practice on Friday. We’ll look for more information on Warren and get Pittsburgh’s inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. RB Najee Harris (ankle) is not listed on the final injury report after putting in full practices on Thursday and Friday.

Cordarrelle Patterson Will Play Week 10

Steelers RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) put in a full week of practice and is off the final injury report. He’ll play vs. the Commanders on Sunday for the first time since Week 4. Patterson averaged 4.0 carries and 1.8 targets over the first four games of the season. He’s not a fantasy option but could put a slight dent in RBs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren’s volume.

        Najee Harris Sidelined Wednesday

Steelers RB Najee Harris (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday. He's coming off a 14-carry, 106-yard outing vs. the Raiders, and we're guessing this was more of a rest day than a legitimate injury. We'll see if Harris gets back on the practice field tomorrow, ahead of Sunday night's game vs. the Jets.

Jaylen Warren has No Injury Designation for Week 6

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren was upgraded today and now has no injury designation for Week 6 against the Raiders. Warren has dealt with hamstring and knee injuries during the offseason and season so far. He could see a prominent role in the Steelers' run game with Najee Harris being ineffective so far this year.

Jaylen Warren Out For Week 4

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Colts. We still don’t have any details on his injury or a timeline for his return. Warren’s absence should leave RB Najee Harris in a workhorse role this weekend. RB Cordarrelle Patterson figures to mix in for a handful of touches as the No. 2.

        Russell Wilson INACTIVE

Steelers QB Russell Wilson (calf) is inactive for today’s opener vs. the Falcons. He was pushing to play, but the team will hold him out after he aggravated his calf injury in practice this week. QB Justin Fields gets the start for Pittsburgh and is a more exciting fantasy option than Wilson. But Fields dings the fantasy value of the Steelers’ skill-position players. See where they all sit in the Week 1 Rankings.

Jaylen Warren Expected To Miss Multiple Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is expected to miss "multiple weeks" with the hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday's preseason game vs. the Bills, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Pittsburgh's season-opener is three weeks away, and Pelissero confirms that Warren's availability for Week 1 is "in doubt."
