The Chiefs' Offense Turns to Dust for the Fantasy Playoffs

        5:29am UTC 12/22/25

With QB Patrick Mahomes out for the season after tearing his ACL and WR Rashee Rice missing this week with a concussion, the Chiefs offense struggled against a poor Titans’ defense. QB Gardner Minshew left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter forcing the team to turn to QB Chris Oladokun. The team only scored 6 points* for the remainder of the game.

Gardner Minshew Believed To Have Torn ACL

        9:27pm UTC 12/21/25

The Chiefs believe QB Gardner Minshew tore his left ACL in the loss to the Titans, according to Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick. Minshew is scheduled for an MRI to confirm, but he likely becomes the second straight Chiefs QB to suffer a season-ending knee injury. Kansas City will be down to QB Chris Oladokun the rest of the way. The 28-year-old, 2022 seventh-round pick had not thrown a regular-season pass before going 11-of-16 for 111 yards vs. the Titans today. Other than maybe WR Rashee Rice and TE Travis Kelce, the Chiefs' passing game will be hands-off against the Broncos in Week 17.

Chiefs WR Marquise Brown sustained an ankle injury in Tuesday's practice, HC Andy Reid said. No word yet on the severity or a timeline for Brown's return.

Update: Brown "avoided anything serious and is expected to be back on the field as early as tomorrow," according to insider Jordan Schultz.

Patrick Mahomes Will Play Week 16

        4:01pm UTC 12/19/24

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 16 injury report and will start Saturday's game vs. the Texans. He was a full participant in practice all week. Reportedly dealing with a high-ankle sprain, it's safe to assume that Mahomes won't have his usual mobility against Houston. And he'd already been underwhelming in fantasy football, finishing outside the top-15 QBs in four of his last five games. Mahomes sits well outside QB1 territory in the Week 16 Rankings, but his availability is good news for the rest of Kansas City's offense.

"He'll miss some time," Reid said, adding that this is similar to the injury WR Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019. Hill missed four games with that injury.

Travis Kelce disappoints again; what's it mean for 2024?

        1:17am UTC 1/1/24

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was held to 3 catches for 16 yards against the Bengals on Sunday. Kelce was unable to get open in what should have been a smash match-up, drawing only 4 targets. Kelce still finishes the fantasy season (for most leagues) tied for the position lead in PPR points per game. But that comes with his lowest scoring average since 2016. Kelce's 14.7 points per contest fall nearly 4.0 short of last year's average. It's no surprise for the 34-year-old to be trending downward at this point. It's fair to wonder, however, how much the season-opening knee injury and then a Week 5 ankle sprain limited him. Kelce probably shouldn't be drafted so far ahead of the rest of the position in 2024, but it's tough to knock him too far when a disappointing year still has him tied for the scoring lead. We'll be very curious to see where he goes in early best-ball drafts. Kelce's likely to be a tough sell in dynasty leagues this offseason.

Travis Kelce leaves with leg injury

        5:46pm UTC 10/8/23

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce suffered an apparent lower right leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Vikings. It was a non-contact play. Kelce limped to the sidelines and slammed his helmet. We'll update his status when we know more.

Update: Kelce returned to the sidelines with his helmet on and ankle taped for the start of the second half but did not play on Kansas City's first drive of the half.

Update: The Chiefs announced that Kelce is questionable to return with an ankle injury. CBS' Tracy Wolfson reports that Kelce underwent X-rays at halftime.

Travis Kelce returns, finds end zone

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce made his 2023 debut in Week 2, catching 4 of 9 targets for 26 yards and 1 score. He ran only 23 routes in his return from a right knee injury – fourth most on the team. He seemed to aggravate the same knee late in this one, although he should be fine for Week 3. Sunday turns up a perfect scoring matchup vs. Chicago.

        Travis Kelce has bone bruise

        9:38am UTC 9/6/23

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has been diagnosed with a bone bruise, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Kelce is dealing with "significant swelling," per Rapoport, but there's no structural damage and it's not a long-term injury. Relatively good news -- but Kelce owners need to be making other plans for Week 1. We'll get Kansas City's final injury report for the opener vs. the Lions on Wednesday afternoon.

Travis Kelce's injury not long term

        5:02pm UTC 9/5/23

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's knee injury is "not believed to be a long-term" issue, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Kelce's availability for Thursday night's opener vs. the Lions is "in doubt," per Rapoport, but at least we're not looking at an extended absence from the fantasy first-rounder. "They’ll wait for swelling to go down and go from there," Rapoport adds. We knocked one game off of Kelce's season-long projections and have removed him from the Week 1 rankings for now. Stay tuned for further updates.

UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted on Tuesday evening that the Chiefs "believe Travis Kelce’s ACL is intact" but that there is inflammation in his knee. The team will test Kelce again tomorrow to determine his fitness for the opener.

Travis Kelce iffy for opener after hurting knee

        2:07pm UTC 9/5/23

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce hyperextended a knee in practice Tuesday, HC Andy Reid told reporters. The injury leaves Kelce's status "uncertain" for Thursday night against the Lions, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It'll help that it's the first game of the week, so fantasy managers will still have all other lineup options available before locking in that TE starter. We'll keep tracking the situation. Backup TE Noah Gray makes sense as a waiver-wire option this week for deeper leagues.

        Kelce dealing with stinger

        7:45am UTC 10/11/21

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce suffered a "stinger" on a hard hit late in Sunday night's loss to the Bills, HC Andy Reid told reporters after the game. That's a generally minor injury to the neck/shoulder area. We'll watch Kelce's status this week but don't expect his availability to be threatened for a Week 6 trip to Washington, barring some change in the diagnosis.
