Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) was in pads for Wednesday's joint practice with the Titans, according to Max Henson of the team's official website. As far as we know, it's just the rookie's 2nd full practice since camp opened. Samuel has a ton of catching up to do and won't be a fantasy option early this season. We'll see if he emerges as a waiver-wire target at some point.
According to Jim Szoke of WBT and WFNZ Radio in North Carolina, Panthers HC Matt Rhule "loves" the versatility of WR Curtis Samuel "at RB, slot, outside" and wants to use the young receiver "like he was at Ohio State." That's what we've been hoping to hear. That would mark a significant change from Samuel's 2019 role, which found him tied for 10th among wideouts in deep targets. Blame Kyle Allen more than Samuel for the WR catching just 5 of those 27 tries, but working shorter would also put him in line with Teddy Bridgewater's strength: short-range accuracy. Samuel began his college career as a RB and still carried 97 times vs. 74 receptions in his final season at Ohio State. In a Carolina offense with little behind Christian McCaffrey in the backfield, there's plenty of room for Samuel to take on a decent-to-significant rushing role. He's an intriguing shot to take around his ADP.
Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) is active for today’s game against the Colts. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and didn’t practice on Friday, so the ankle is a real concern. So is QB play in rookie Will Grier’s 1st start. Samuel isn’t a recommended Week 16 fantasy play.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Panthers WR Curtis Samuel is expected to play today against the Colts. Samuel is officially questionable with a knee injury that arose during the practice week. It limited his Thursday participation and then kept him out Friday. Combine that with Carolina giving rookie QB Will Grier his 1st pro start in this road game, and Samuel looks like a guy you should try to avoid for fantasy football lineups.
Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Colts. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and didn’t practice on Friday, so he seems to be in real danger of missing this one. Samuel wasn’t a recommended fantasy play in QB Will Grier’s 1st start anyways. His absence would leave behind a handful of targets for guys like RB Christian McCaffrey, WR D.J. Moore and TE Greg Olsen.
Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring) isn’t listed on the final Week 10 injury report. He put in full practices on Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. Samuel remains a boom/bust WR3 for Sunday’s game in Green Bay.
