Saints RB Alvin Kamara left a scrimmage with the Dallas Cowboys with a knee injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the injury was a sprained MCL and will miss at least the next month with the injury. That sets up RB Travis Etienne for a full workload and makes Kamara undraftable in upcoming fantasy drafts.
What They're Saying: Missing At Least a Month
Adam Schefter, ESPN: "Saints RB Alvin Kamara is expected to be sidelined for at least the next month due to a sprained MCL, per source."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: No Reason to Draft Him With Injury
Kamara’s 2025 was one of the worst seasons of his career. Across 11 games, he set career lows in:
- carries (131)
- rushing yards (471)
- rushing TDs (1)
- catches (33)
- receiving yards (186)
- receiving TDs (0)
That led to the Saints signing Travis Etienne in the offseason to serve as the lead back. This should give him even more work since Kamara won'y be available for receiving work.
Kamara has been a late-round redraft pick as it is, and missing a few weeks won't help him rise as a fantasy target over the rest of the preseason. There just is no reason to risk taking Kamara when he was already on the border of being draftable as RB50 in our PPR RB rankings.
This also provides an opportunity for young RBs Devin Neal and Kendre Miller to make the roster and potentially get some playing time.
