The Bengals selected LSU QB Joe Burrow with the 1st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. Burrow looked like a mid- to late-round prospect at this time a year ago. He redshirted his 1st season at Ohio State and then backed up J.T. Barrett for the next 2. Burrow transferred to LSU in 2018, when he mustered just 2,894 passing yards with 16 TDs on a 58% completion rate and 7.6 yards per attempt. Then came a massive 2019: 5,671 yards, 60 TDs, just 6 INTs, a 76% completion rate and 10.8 yards per attempt. Burrow received the highest passing grade from Pro Football Focus since the site started grading college players in 2014. We could point out the fact that the breakout season came as a 22-year-old, 5th-year senior playing with a loaded group of weapons. But watch Burrow and it’s tough to not fall in love. He has incredible pocket presence and mobility, is pinpoint accurate to all levels of the field and has underrated athleticism, totaling 767 rushing yards and 12 TDs over the past 2 seasons. He’ll be under center for Cincinnati come Week 1, whether or not QB Andy Dalton is traded. Burrow will have a nice group of weapons at his disposal in A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, John Ross, Auden Tate and Joe Mixon. Hopefully the Bengals use the rest of this draft to bolster their offensive line.

The Bengals are using their franchise tag on WR A.J. Green. This move seemed likely, based on HC Zac Taylor talking this offseason about wanting to keep the veteran wideout around. Green lost all of 2019 and half of 2018 to injury. But if he can return to full health for 2020, the veteran should remain Cincinnati's lead WR. A healthy Green in the 1st half of 2018 didn't hurt Tyler Boyd's target share at all. (Boyd actually drew a slightly larger share with Green on the field than he did after Green went down.)

Bengals HC Zac Taylor said in a Cincinnati.com podcast this week that WR A.J. Green is "a guy we want to be around." It sounds like the team could use the franchise tag to keep the veteran around if they don't agree on a contract extension. Green missed all of 2019 after sitting out 7 games in 2018, but he still looks like a solid fantasy football value at the bottom of WR3 range in early best-ball drafting. Green ranked among the top 16 WRs in PPR points per game every year from 2012 through 2018.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. The swelling in that ankle has reportedly subsided, but Green didn’t practice at all this week. Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate will continue to serve as Cincinnati’s top 2 WRs vs. Oakland’s burnable secondary.

Bengals WR A.J. Green is out "indefinitely" after experiencing a setback with his injured ankle, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. Green doesn't sound particularly interested in pushing through the injury for the 0-8 Bengals. "For me, just gotta make sure I feel comfortable going out there and pushing it," Green said Thursday. "For me, just gotta make sure I gotta take care of me first before anything else." Green did add that he's still hoping to play in 2019, but that seems weeks away now. He's droppable if you need the roster spot.

Bengals WR A.J. Green told reporters on Thursday that his ankle is swollen and said "probably not" when asked if he'll play against the Ravens this weekend. So we'll need to wait at least another week for Green's 2019 debut. His continued absence keeps WRs Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate in play as lower-end fantasy options.

Shortly after Bengals HC Zac Taylor said WR A.J. Green (ankle) was on track to return for this weekend's game against the Ravens, Green missed Wednesday's practice. Taylor said afterward that Green didn't feel well enough to participate and is considered "day to day." His Week 10 status is now completely up in the air. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Bengals HC Zac Taylor confirmed on Wednesday that WR A.J. Green (ankle) is expected to make his 2019 debut against the Ravens this weekend. Green will be returning to a struggling offense with a rookie QB making his 1st career start. It obviously adds risk to Green's fantasy outlook, but he's talented enough to produce despite it all. It's also worth noting that Cincinnati has been the league's 2nd pass-heaviest offense this season.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Rams in London. We'll see if he's still on Cincinnati's roster after next week's trade deadline -- and then if he's able to return after the team's Week 8. Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson will again operate as the Bengals' top 3 WRs this Sunday.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is "unlikely" to return for Sunday's game against the Rams, according to ESPN's Ben Baby. There's no reason for him to rush back for an 0-7 team. And it's possible the Bengals want to protect him in case they get a big offer for him before next week's trade deadline. Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson will continue to serve as Cincinnati's top 3 WRs this weekend.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) returned to a "very limited" practice on Thursday, per insider Geoff Hobson. It's Green's 1st official workout since going down on July 27. He won't play against the Ravens this weekend but has "a chance" to return for Week 7, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bengals HC Zac Taylor confirmed that WR A.J. Green (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Ravens and added that Green won't practice this week. That makes a Week 7 return seem unlikely. Cincinnati has a Week 9 bye, which might factor into the decision about when to bring Green back.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is expected to be out until at least Week 7. Green is now 2 months removed from his injury. The last real update we got came when he shed his walking boot and resumed running about 3 weeks ago. Green still hasn't officially practiced with the team. It's worth noting that the Bengals have a Week 9 bye, so it's possible they hold Green out through then.

Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Monday that there's still no timetable for WR A.J. Green's return from his ankle injury. Taylor added that Green won't practice this week. That'd seemingly make Week 6 the best-case scenario for Green's 2019 debut. If you've stashed him on your bench for this long, though, you should continue to stash him.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is out of his walking boot and said Wednesday that the ran this week without any discomfort. Green added that he's "ahead of schedule" but wouldn't give a timetable for his return. We'd consider him at least 2 weeks away from his 2019 debut. We'll continue to monitor his progress.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is still in a walking boot, according to Geoff Hobson of the team's official website. That doesn't sound like a guy who will be ready to play football any time soon. At this point, it wouldn't be surprising to see Green miss all of September. We'll continue to monitor his progress.

Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson reports that HC Zac Taylor says WR A.J. Green is not a candidate for short-term IR. "Feels like he'll be back before 8 weeks," Hobson tweeted. That's not necessarily a positive development. Even at a 6th-round ADP, fantasy drafters clearly aren't assuming anything near an 8-week absence for Green. We'll watch for more specific updates here. Green remains a high-risk selection anywhere near ADP.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport updated his earlier reports on Bengals WR A.J. Green on Tuesday afternoon. Rapoport tweeted, "Based on what they found cleaning out the ankle, he's now expected to miss a few games." That's 3 varying reports from Rapoport on Green today. We already shaved a couple of games off Green's projection after the initial diagnosis, though. His position at the bottom of WR2 territory seems appropriate for now ... at least until the next thing "sources" say.

Bengals WR A.J. Green underwent a "minor ankle procedure" on Tuesday morning, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The surgery was aimed at cleaning out the ankle after Saturday's injury, per Rapoport, and doesn't change Green's timeline for return. Rapoport even says "Week 1 is still possible" for Green. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his rehab, but fantasy owners should still be expecting Green to miss at least a game or 2 after he was slapped with a 6-8 week timetable for return.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that there has been no final diagnosis of Bengals WR A.J. Green's injury yet. The wideout did get a 2nd opinion and is not currently in line for surgery. Rapoport said the team will re-evaluate the injured area in "a couple of weeks." Rapoport added no one he's talked to has ruled Green out for the opener. Although there's optimism in the Green report, we fantasy drafters would prefer a little more certainty to this situation.

Update: After reporting Green had no surgery plans, Rapoport reported that Green had a “minor procedure” Tuesday morning to “clear it out.” Week 1 reportedly remains a possibility
