Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) was in a walking boot at Friday’s practice, according to insider Geoff Hobson. ESPN’s Bob Holtzman confirms that Green is out for this weekend’s game against the Panthers. Fantasy owners should be preparing for a multi-game absence. Mohamed Sanu will serve as the Bengals’ top WR while Green is out. Playing the best football of his career, Sanu is a viable WR3 against the Panthers this week. Brandon Tate and Dane Sanzenbacher will serve as the #2 and #3 WRs but would be desperation fantasy plays. RBs Gio Bernard and Jeremy Hill should combine for 30+ touches on Sunday.

Bengals insider Geoff Hobson writes that, "It’s believed the MRI [on WR A.J. Green's toe] again showed no tears or breaks."  The MRI also came back negative when Green first suffered the injury a few weeks ago, but he's still dealing with discomfort.  He's visiting a foot specialist on Thursday, who will recommend the next course of action.  Hobson doesn't expect Green to play against the Panthers this Sunday and believes the team could shut him down "for a few weeks."  We'll look for another on Green's status tomorrow.

Bleacher Report's Will Carroll calls Bengals WR A.J. Green "very doubtful" for this weekend's game against the Panthers after aggravating his injured toe on Wednesday.  Green is undergoing additional testing today to determine the severity.  "This one looks bad," Carroll says.  "They're worried that this is a significant re-injury.  Could be even a rupture of that ligament or a severe sprain, and that would be devastating."  It's unclear exactly where Carroll is getting this information, so take it with a healthy grain of salt.  But we know that toe issues can linger and sap a skill position player's explosiveness, so Green owners should certainly be concerned.

Bengals WR A.J. Green was carted off the practice field on Wednesday. Beat writers believe that he suffered a re-aggravation of his right toe injury, but we should learn more after practice. We already know that Marvin Jones (ankle) missed Wednesday’s session. He remains very iffy to play Sunday vs. Carolina. If both Green and Jones sit out, Cincinnati will be left with Mohamed Sanu and Dane Sanzenbacher at WR. That would obviously put a huge dent in Andy Dalton’s outlook.

Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) is inactive for tonight’s matchup with New England. Mohamed Sanu will make another start opposite A.J. Green.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) is active for today’s game against the Titans. He put in a full practice on Friday, suggesting that the toe isn’t a major issue. The chance of an aggravation adds some risk to Green’s Week 3 outlook, but he belongs in your starting lineup.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) is listed as probable for Week 3 after putting in a full practice on Friday. It’s an impressive turnaround after he seemed like a long shot to play earlier this week. Green carries a bit more risk than usual because of the toe issue, but he remains a must-start for Sunday’s game against the Titans.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) said Friday morning that he'll play against the Titans this weekend.  He was more hesitant earlier this week, so it's a sign that he's feeling good.  Green will carry more risk -- and not quite as much upside -- as usual.  But as long as he's active on Sunday, he needs to be in fantasy lineups.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) returned to practice on Thursday.  He'll almost certainly be listed as "limited," but it gives him a chance of playing against the Titans this weekend.  How Green's toe responds to today's workout will go a long way toward determining his Week 3 status.

Bengals HC Marvin Lewis told the media on Wednesday that he expects WR A.J. Green (toe) to play against the Titans this weekend.  Green said earlier in the day that he "hopes" to play.  His final Week 3 status will likely hinge on how he feels throughout the week and on Sunday.  We'll continue to track his status.

Bengals HC Marvin Lewis said Monday that WR A.J. Green's injury is not "long term."  No other information was provided.  It's believed that Green is dealing with turf toe.  That's an injury that guys can play through, but also one that tends to hinder speed and explosion.  The Bengals' official site suggests that Green could return after the Week 4 bye.  It sounds like he's worse than 50-50 for this Sunday's game against the Titans.

Bengals WR A.J. Green is believed to be dealing with turf toe, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  That's an injury that can linger and debilitate a player's speed and explosion.  Consider Green questionable for Week 3 for now.  We'll continue to monitor his status.

Bengals WR A.J. Green left in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons with a toe injury.  His return is being called questionable.

Update: Green has been ruled out for the rest of the game.

Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com has reported for a while that the Bengals expect to pass less under new OC Hue Jackson than they did under Jay Gruden.  On Thursday, he put numbers to that expectation.  "New offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is committed to changing it and I think he’s also committed to taking the load off Andy Dalton," Hobson wrote.  "A big adjustment that has to make (sic) is cutting his pass attempts from 586 to closer to Russell Wilson’s number of 407."  Just to be clear, this wasn't Hobson reporting that comparison from Bengals people.  It was him answering a mailbag question.  Beat writers often know their teams better than anyone outside the franchises, but they also often get into trouble when they try to dabble in projections. We're simply not buying that the Bengals will suddenly turn into the league's most run-heavy team, which is what Seattle has been over the past 2 years. More people need to realize that Gruden's Bengals already leaned run and that Hue Jackson's offenses have averaged just 44% run over his 4 years as an OC or HC. Just 1 of those teams reached 46% run. By comparison, the Seahawks have run 55% of the time and 52.3% of the time the past 2 years. Dalton's pass attempts will fall because Cincinnati ran the most total offensive plays in franchise history last year. But don't forecast utter doom for all Bengals passing-game pieces.  DS Insiders can check out our 2014 projections for Dalton and the rest of the Bengals.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Bengals will promote Hue Jackson to OC.  Jackson has spent the past 2 seasons in a variety of assistant coaching roles in Cincinnati.  He was with Oakland the 2 years prior to that -- 1 as OC and 1 as HC.  He also served as Washington's OC in 2003 and Atlanta's OC in 2007.  Jackson oversaw a strong rushing attack in Oakland.  The Raiders ranked 2nd and 7th, respectively, in rushing in his 2 years there.  They ran the ball 51% of the time in 2010 and 47% in 2011.  We like the news for RB Gio Bernard.

If you're hoping the Bengals will move on from QB Andy Dalton sometime soon ... don't.  HC Marvin Lewis said Monday that he continues to believe in his QB.  "He had another very good season," Lewis said, per the team website.  "He’s progressed well.  We need to continue to do things to make his job just easier and easier to do."  We see Dalton as a limited talent with a penchant for inconsistent play.  Another report this week stated that Bengals owner/GM wanted to draft 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick when OC Jay Gruden preferred Dalton 3 years ago.  WR A.J. Green and the rest of the Bengals' offensive talent appears stuck with the "Red Rifle" for the near future.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (knee) missed practice Wednesday, but don't worry about his status for Sunday's game.  Green missed preseason action after bruising a knee way back in July, but we've seen no reports of re-injury or further issues with the joint since.  This was clearly a rest day for 1 of the team's most important players.  Check our playoff fantasy football rankings to see how early you should draft Green in your postseason league.

The weather forecast for this afternoon's Patriots-Bengals game calls for 50% chance of rain and 14 mph winds.  It's been raining all morning, so the field will likely be sloppy.  It's not enough to downgrade either team's passing game, but we wonder how the field conditions will impact WR Danny Amendola's usage.  Amendola is a risk/reward fantasy option for Week 5.  Click here to see where he sits in our rankings.

Bengals WR A.J. Green returned to practice on Wednesday for the 1st time since injuring his knee about 3 weeks ago.  He did "primarily individual drills," according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.  Green's injury was never considered serious, but the Bengals are playing it extra safe.  He won't play in the team's preseason game on Saturday, but hopefully we'll get to see him in the 3rd exhibition.  Regardless, Green is in no danger of missing Week 1, and his fantasy stock is unaffected.
