Saints RB Tony Jones suffered a leg injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. the Giants. He had to be carted to the locker room, so don't expect to see him back out there today.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are releasing RB Latavius Murray. The team reportedly asked Murray to agree to a pay cut, but he refused. His departure should leave Tony Jones as the #2 back in New Orleans. The depth chart is thin behind them, so don't be surprised if the Saints add another RB.

Saints RB Latavius Murray survived roster cuts, according to insider Nick Underhill. Murray was out-played this summer by Tony Jones, who appears to be the favorite for the #2 job in New Orleans. Murray's presence makes the situation murky, though. We'll see how these guys are used behind RB Alvin Kamara in Week 1.

ESPN's Steve Levy said during the Saints-Jaguars Monday Night Football broadcast that HC Sean Payton told him, "If you’re asking me today, my #2 RB is Tony Jones.” That follows reports that RB Latavius Murray could be on the chopping block. Jones got the start vs. Jacksonville, although he and Murray both played 8 snaps with starting QB Jameis Winston. We'll keep an eye on this battle, but it's a situation to avoid in fantasy drafts until we get some clarity.

Katherine Terrell of The Athletic writes that it “feels like” Saints RB Latavius Murray will avoid getting cut. Terrell adds, however, that Murray’s status on the team “doesn’t seem as clear cut as it might have weeks ago.” Murray, 31, fumbled in the preseason opener and carries a cap hit of nearly $4.2 million. Still, with depth options like Devonta Freeman and Tony Jones, we’d be surprised if the Saints dumped Murray. It's at least a storyline to watch over the coming weeks.
